The Mumbai Indians’ (MI) loss to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has practically reduced IPL 2022 to an eight-team affair, so according to Aakash Chopra.

In Saturday night’s Indian Premier League match, MI was thrashed by RCB by seven wickets. Both Rohit Sharma’s team and the Chennai Super Kings have now lost their first four games of the competition, and they have a difficult assignment to reach the playoffs.

The Mumbai Indians’ team makeup was criticized harshly by Aakash Chopra. He stated, ”

“The tournament has already been expanded to include eight teams, thanks to Mumbai’s efforts. What’s going on in Mumbai? They chose only two international players. Why, and how, do you think that is? All of Tim David, Fabien Allen, Riley Meredith, and Tymal Mills are out. You’ve got Jaydev Unadkat and Ramandeep – did you play them?”

With their squad pick, the Mumbai Indians significantly weakened their bowling lineup. Chopra elaborated:

“You’ve had such a long batting run that you’re down to just four bowlers: Jaydev Unadkat, Basil Thampi, Jasprit Bumrah, and Murugan Ashwin. It means either Kieron Pollard or Dewald Brevis will be the fifth bowler. Mumbai, best of luck.”

Mumbai Indians’ batting is slammed by Aakash Chopra:

After a promising start, the Mumbai Indians were hit hard by a flurry of wickets, as per Aakash Chopra. He went on to say:

“There’s no way you can win a game when you just have a few bowlers and a low score. Although Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly, the batting was poor. It was like a cycle stand when the wickets started to fall.”

Aakash Chopra ended by noting that the five-time champions currently have their poorest lineup in IPL history, citing Jasprit Bumrah as the only formidable weapon in MI’s bowling attack.
