Riyan Parag‘s match-winning 56 runs helped Rajasthan Royals defeat Royal Challengers Bangalore in match 39 of Tata IPL 2022. Parag after the game said that the franchise has backed him a lot.

RR after having lost the toss was batting first. They didn’t get to a good start as Mohammad Siraj got rid of Devdutt Padikkal in the 2nd over itself. Then soon he also got rid of Ravichandran Ashwin who came into bat at 3. Josh Hazelwood came in and got rid of Jos Buttler. That left RR 3 down inside the powerplay.

I’m Paying Them Bit By Bit: Riyan Parag

Rajasthan Royals’ score read 68-4 when Parag came into bat. He got going from the beginning itself but then had to curtail himself and play according to the situation as his side kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

He picked his bowlers and targeted them. He was also aided by a dropped catch by Wanindu Hasaranga. That dropped catch probably cost RCB the game.

Riyan Parag on his innings said, “bit of satisfaction. The Royals have shown faith in me for the last three years, and I am paying them back bit by bit. I love the pressure and I am just showcasing my abilities.”

On being asked what was the talk around the time out, he said, “During the time-out, Sanga came out and we agreed that 140 was a good total on this wicket. We decided to go big in the last two overs. I wanted to target Hasaranga in his second over, but we lost wickets, and so I had to strategize and go after Hazlewood and Harshal.”

Parag hit 18 in the last over and helped RR post 144 on the board. He also picked up 4 catches in the game including a brilliant running catch of Shahbaz Ahmed off Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling.
