RCB vs RR: We Have Backed Riyan Parag and He Has Come Good - Sanju Samson
Rajasthan Royals were in trouble after losing the toss as they had lost 3 wickets in the powerplay itself. One of those wickets included that of an in-form Jos Buttler. But a brilliant 50 by Riyan Parag helped RR win their first game against Royal Challengers Bangalore in their last 6 encounters. Sanju Samson in the post-match presentation said that they back Riyan Parag to come good.
RR who have been otherwise been pretty good with the bat throughout the season was very poor against Royal Challengers Bangalore. None of their batters could really get going apart from Riyan Parag who scored his 2nd IPL half-century and carried his side to a respectable total of 144.
In the end that total proved to be sufficient as RR did well to defend the target by 29 runs.
We Give Clarity To Our Players: Sanju Samson
Despite getting a win in their last game RR made three changes to their squad. Karun Nair who didn’t get many opportunities when he was in the XI was dropped to include Daryl Mitchell when asked about the same, Samson in the post-match presentation said, “We do make a couple of changes here and there based on the opponents and conditions. But it is important to give clarity to people who are being dropped. Credit to Karun to accept and understand that we needed Mitchell’s one over today and he can come in later.”
On Riyan Parag’s fabulous innings he said, “Really great win looking at the start we had. It was looking dicey after the 15 overs and it all thanks to a certain Riyan Parag. We have been backing him and he came in and showed the world how explosive he can be.”
On being asked what was the chat before the 2nd innings, he said, “We were 10-15 runs short with no dew and the wicket turning a bit. We were waiting for the back end of the batting order to go out and win matches. Almost everyone has put up a match-winning performance until now. The chat before the second innings was that in a total like this and conditions like this, it is tough for batters to change gears. It was a matter of putting in pressure.”
This win has taken RR to the top of the points table.
