RCB vs SRH: A Lot Went Our Way - Kane Williamson After 9-Wicket Win vs RCB
Sunrisers Hyderabad decimated Royal Challengers Bangalore by 9 wickets and 72 balls remaining in match 36 of IPL 2022. After the win, Kane Williamson was quite happy but he was practical too as he said that a lot of things went in his team’s favour.
To begin with, Kane Williamson won the 7th consecutive toss of the season. After winning the toss he put RCB in to bat first.
SRH Bowlers Were Top Notch
Kane’s bowling unit did not disappoint at all as they didn’t let RCB go off the hook at all. They restricted them to just 68 runs in their first innings. The wrecker in chief was Marco Jansen who took 3 wickets in his very first over. Then T Natarajan and J Suchith also came and got rewards for bowling great lines and lengths.
In the post-match presentation, Williamson said, “It was one of those days really. There was a little bit in the air and the guys bowled beautifully and we caught well. For things to unfold like that, you need a bit to go your way and we got that.
Obviously, we got that. It was an outstanding performance but a lot went our way. So for us it’s about going back to our plans and looking at the next challenge. There’s a lot of strike power there and the balls are swinging this season a lot more than other seasons so we’re trying to make use of that as a side. I think we’ve seen a lot of wickets in the Powerplay, and for us to take those wickets in the Powerplay was a great start to the match.”
Marco Jansen did not play the first couple of games for SRH but since he has joined the squad he has provided the side with a great balance. On his performance, Williamson said, “Off the field, he’s always up for a laugh. He’s always very focused and very clear on what he wants to do. He clearly had an outstanding match today and he’s got the skills to do that. When the ball is swinging a little bit, and a little bit of grass on the surface, he’s a real threat for us. So it was great that he was able to get the rewards today.”
SRH have now won 5 in a row and are now placed 2nd on the points table with a very healthy net run rate, on this Williamson said, “Obviously you want to win every game and that’s the first goal, and then you want to try to do it as well as you can and it was great we were able to do that today.”
After the first two games, SRH were written off completely by many pundits but they have played some excellent cricket and are now looking in red hot form.
