RR vs RCB: Dinesh Karthik Is As Great A Character As You Can Get - Faf du Plessis
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis lavished praise on the wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Karthik, who played a stunning knock against Rajasthan Royals (RR) to help RCB over the line.
Karthik walked in when RCB was in trouble at 87/5 while chasing a steep total of 170. The surface was tough to bat on but Karthik put on a masterclass and stayed unbeaten till the end on 44 (23) balls.
“To pull it out of nowhere, you need some great characters and DK is as great a character as you can get. His composure under pressure is amazing. He is really calm and such a great asset to us,” du Plessis said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“We bowled really well, upto the 18th over and then Jos got some good shots. Got a score which we thought was a bit above-par with the conditions and the surface spinning a bit.”
“We started quite well though, but then Yuzi (Chahal) bowled really well to get them back in. But for me, the great thing about today once again was our ability to come back to win games out of nowhere,” he added.
“Shahbaz Ahmed can smash it a long way” – Faf du Plessis
Du Plessis further asserted that Shahbaz Ahmed is quite underrated when it comes to hitting big sixes. He is spoken about as somebody who is skinny but du Plessis claimed that the youngster can hit it long.
“People think that since he (Shahbaz) is a small skinny guy, he can’t hit it long but he can smash it a long way. We didn’t bowl him today because of the wet ball and left-hander being around but he’ll definitely play a long part in this season,” du Plessis concluded.
