The 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 was played between Kane Williamson-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Sunday, May 1.
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won the match by 13 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) to register their third win of the Indian Premier League 2022.

Sunrisers Hyderabad won the toss and invited MS Dhoni and co. to bat first in the match and they fielded an unchanged playing XI.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings made two changes to the playing XI as Simarjeet Singh and Devon Conway replaced Dwayne Bravo and Shivam Dube in the playing XI.
At the toss, MS Dhoni, who was leading Chennai Super Kings for the first time in the Indian Premier League 2022 after getting back the captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja, revealed the real reason behind Dwayne Bravo’s exclusion from the playing XI and said that the all-rounder is not fit, which has led to him getting dropped.
Ruturaj Gaikwad got a new opening partner, Devon Conway, in the match and they batted cautiously in the powerplay overs. In the first three overs, they scored 3, 6 and 9 runs and in the next three overs, they scored 5, 8 and 9 runs. They completed 50 runs partnership in 45 balls with Gaikwad contributing 34 runs and Conway contributing 15 runs.
Ruturaj Gaikwad completed his half-century off 33 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes. Chennai Super Kings reached 100 runs in 10.5 overs and Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad completed 100 runs partnership in 65 balls with Gaikwad contributing 66 runs and Conway contributing 29 runs.

Meanwhile, Devon Conway scored his first Indian Premier League fifty off 39 balls and Chennai Super Kings reached 150 runs in 14.4 overs.
Left-arm pacer T Natarajan broke the gigantic 182 runs partnership between Chennai Super Kings openers by dismissing Ruturaj Gaikwad in the 18th over.
The 25-year-old was very unfortunate as he fell just 1 run short of a well-deserving century. Gaikwad scored 99 runs off 57 balls, including 6 fours and 6 sixes.
In the last over, T Natarajan dismissed MS Dhoni for 8 but Devon Conway remained unbeaten and helped Chennai Super Kings score 202/2. Also, Conway smashed 85 runs off 55 balls, including 8 fours and 4 sixes.
Chasing the target, Kane Williamson and Abhishek Sharma scored 10 runs in the first over, which was bowled by Mukesh Choudhary and in the second over, Simarjeet Singh gave away 14 runs.

Everything was going in favour of Sunrisers Hyderabad until the 6th over as CSK pacer Mukesh Choudhary picked back-to-back wickets by dismissing Abhishek Sharma for 39 and Rahul Tripathi for a duck. Aiden Markram looked brilliant out in middle but got dismissed in the 10th over, which was bowled by Mitchell Santner.
Kane Williamson played his natural game in the match while chasing a humongous target and he scored 47 runs off 37 balls, including 2 fours and 2 sixes before getting dismissed by Pretorius on the second ball of the 15th over.
In the end, Nicholas Pooran smashed 64 runs off 33 balls, including 3 fours and 6 sixes, but he was too late and was unable to take Sunrisers Hyderabad past the finish line.

Almost a complete performance by the men in Yellow under Thala #MSDhoni? ?? @Ruutu1331 and Conway batted brilliantly and though 202 seemed to be 15 short, the #CSK bowlers have done well to defend it even though a few chances went down! #CSKvsSRH #IPL2022

SRH let down by bowling. Not to take away anything from Gaikwad shose blistering 99 put His team in command from the start. #Dhoni back at the helm, third win completed. Place in the play-offs looks difficult still, but is there a #CSK redemption song being composed I wonder
