Lucknow Super Giants will be boosted by the presence of a couple of Caribbean players namely Jason Holder and Kyle Mayers for their game against SunRisers Hyderabad.  Marcus Stoinis is still unavailable, as he is with the Australian team in Pakistan playing the white ball series against Pakistan. He will be a huge miss for LSG because the firepower he brings to their middle order will be immense.

Lucknow Super Giants have a strong batting lineup with the likes of in-form batters KL Rahul, Quinton de Kock, Ayush Badoni, Evin Lewis, and Deepak Hooda. Only Manish Pandey is a bit struggling with form. They will be bolstered by the presence of Jason Holder.

Lucknow Super Giants openers KL Rahul (40 runs) and Quinton De Kock (61 runs) kicked off the chase against Chennai Super Kings positively with their 99-run opening partnership. Evin Lewis then unleashed himself with an unbeaten 23-ball 55 runs to take their team across the line. Ayush Badoni and Deepak Hooda played a couple of impressive shots to continue their form from the first match.

Pacers Avesh Khan and Andrew Tye picked up 2 wickets each but were unable to restrict the scoring rate effectively. Dushmantha Chameera had a bad day in the field and with the ball and may be replaced by Jason Holder in the next game against SRH. Ravi Bishnoi impressed with his superb bowling figures of 4-0-24-1 with Krunal Pandya and Deepak Hooda supporting in the middle overs in the spin department.

KL Rahul has been Mr. Consistent of IPL in the last couple of seasons, scoring over 500 runs in each of the last four editions. LSG would want their skipper back in the 2018 form though, the season where he had scored 659 runs at 54.91 at a strike rate of 158.41.

The right-handed batsman was picked as a draft player by the team. Last season, he was part of Punjab Kings. He scored 626 runs in 13 games. He failed to score against Gujarat, being caught behind in the very 1st ball, but he scored 40 runs off only 26 balls against CSK.

Roped in for INR 6.75 crore, the South African international Quinton de Kock has been one of the most prolific overseas batting options in recent times in IPL. Last season, the left-handed batsman was part of Mumbai Indians. He scored 297 runs in 11 games at an average of 29.70. He scored 61 runs off 45 balls against CSK after scoring 7 against Gujarat.

Primarily an opener, but with a lack of available overseas options, LSG is likely to go with the West Indies batter at No. 3/ No. 4 for the match. It will also help LSG maintain the left-right combination. He was the Man of the Match against CSK scoring an unbeaten 55 off 23 balls including 6 fours and 3 sixes.

Manish Pandey

Although he has managed a strike rate of just 127.52 in the last three IPL seasons, Lucknow is likely to slot him at No.3/No. 4 with the idea that he would play the anchor role when one of the two openers falls early in the game. Manish Pandey is yet to fire this season scoring only 12 runs combined in the first 2 games. Replacing him with Jason Holder might be an option.

Deepak Hooda

In the last three seasons, Deepak Hooda has evolved as a key middle-order batter, scoring 444 runs at a strike rate of almost 140. He also offers control in the middle overs with the ball. Deepak Hooda is 12th in the list of highest run-getters in IPL 2022, amassing 68 runs including 55 against Gujarat.

Lucknow Super Giants’ all-rounder Ayush Badoni, 22, became the first player to notch up a 50-plus score on IPL debut while batting at the No.6 spot or below in the match against Gujarat Titans, albeit in a losing cause.

Ayush Badoni, who was playing on set alight the stage with his aggressive batting, hitting three sixes and four fours, and scoring 54 off 41 balls. He teamed up with Deepak Hooda, who scored 55 off 44 balls, including six fours and two sixes.

Ayush Badoni reached his maiden IPL half-century off 38 balls as Lucknow mustered a fighting 156-run total from being 25 for three. He scored 19 off 9 balls against CSK in the next match

Krunal Pandya

Lucknow will want Krunal Pandya to play the same role he used to play for Mumbai Indians all these years. Krunal Pandya, the spinner who can contribute with the bat as well was picked for Rs. 8.25 crores during the auction.

He was part of Mumbai Indians in the last season. He scored 143 runs in 12 games and picked 5 wickets. He played both games, took a scalp, and scored an unbeaten 21 off 13 balls. Both came in a lost cause against Gujarat.

Andrew Tye joins Lucknow Super Giants for INR 1 Crore as a replacement for the injured Mark Wood. The Australian right-arm pacer has so far played 27 IPL games and has 40 wickets against his name, including a five-wicket haul and a hat-trick. He will be eager to make his mark in the TATA IPL 2022 in LSG’s maiden IPL season. He didn’t play against Gujarat but picked 2/40 against Chennai.

Ravi Bishnoi was one of the drafts picks for Lucknow. At 21 years of age, Ravi Bishnoi has been an exciting prospect in IPL and his impressive show in the last two seasons has handed him an opportunity in the Indian squad as well. He picked 2 scalps in as many games in IPL 2022.

Avesh Khan

He is one of the key players in the Lucknow set-up. The young pacer was bought by Lucknow for 10 crores at auction, up from a base price of 20 lakh, becoming the most expensive uncapped player at the event. The Madhya Pradesh player was the second in the list of top wicket-takers last season, picking 24 wickets in 16 games at 18.75. He picked 3 scalps in 2 games but has been a tad too expensive (9.26).
