Virat Kohli has not been in great touch in IPL 2022 as he has scored just around 200 runs at only around 19 runs per match.

This IPL edition is longer than usual as there are two new teams. This means that with Covid around, players have to spend more time in the bubble.

As per reports earlier, the BCCI was considering doing away with the bubbles. But in any case, as per the latest reports, the BCCI is considering resting a jaded Virat Kohli for the 5 match T20 series against South Africa. This is to ensure that he is fresh for the England Tour later this year.

Virat Kohli in all probability will be rested for the South Africa series. He has been playing a lot of cricket and has been in the bubble for a long time,” the senior BCCI official further told PTI on conditions of anonymity.

India is scheduled to play a T20 series from June 9-19. The games are to be played at Delhi, Cuttack, Vishakapatnam, Rajkot and Bengaluru.

Later in the month, they are due to tour the UK, first, they have a T20 series against Ireland and then they will play the one-off test which was postponed last year after the Covid scare. The board would like Virat to be in the best frame of mind for the England tour.
