Punjab Kings haven’t had the best of times in their last two outings and have lots to worry about as they move into their next encounter against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai. Delhi Capitals‘ openers created havoc against the bowling of Punjab and eventually cruised to victory against the Punjab Kings team with 10 balls left.

Punjab should have got to a much bigger total in their first innings with the way they were placed at the halfway mark and it wasn’t the best of finishes from them.

KL Rahul:

It has again been the curious case of KL Rahul playing at a very low strike rate in the early part of his innings. Despite the inexperience in the middle order, Rahul needs to make sure that he addresses the strike rate issue as it is not getting any better. In the previous game, he played 51 deliveries for just 61 runs which are not ideal in T20 cricket.

Rahul can hit the big sixes and he has shown it in the past of his hitting prowess. However, the captaincy has made him play subtle and he must be aware of the fact that if he gets going, the opening partnership becomes really dangerous with the likes of Mayank Agarwal getting his touchback in the last game.

Rahul is going to be a key player in defining the success of the team and his strike rate is going to be under vision again.

Shahrukh Khan:

Shahrukh Khan has been in good form for the Punjab Kings and he was the lone warrior when the whole team bundled against the Chennai Super Kings. He did not get many deliveries in the previous game to show off his hitting skills but still blasted 15 runs in 5 balls with two fours and a six.

Shahrukh is assigned the finisher role in the team and so far he has been executing it to perfection. He has been one of the positives for Punjab Kings despite their failures and he is ready to play according to the situation.

He has shown a lot of composure and maturity while playing the big shots at times. It will not be a surprise if he gets a promotion in the batting order to up the anti as Pooran and Gayle haven’t got going yet.

Arshdeep Singh:

So far, the young quick Arshdeep Singh has been really impressive in the tournament and he is leading the way for the Punjab bowlers with some excellent spells. He held his nerve in the first game against Rajasthan Royals which could have gone either way and does add a lot of value for the team.

He is a wicket-taker and despite his average speeds, he has been hitting the right lengths so far leaking a lot lesser runs than the other bowler in the team.

He picked up the crucial wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the powerplay in the last game with a bouncer and he has shown that he can deliver the goods with his variations. He is a very clever bowler and Rahul has been using him very wisely which makes him a match-winner in the side.
