Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa has revealed the importance of leaving India in the midway of IPL 2021 due to the pressure of the Australian government not allowing overseas citizens. The situation in India wasn’t ideal for the Australian cricketers to stay in the subcontinent and a lot of overseas players in the IPL camp started moving to their home countries.

Adam Zampa and Kane Richardson were among the overseas recruits of RCB who had left the bio bubble on April 25th and they hadn’t specified the reasons behind the exit. They reached Australia by charter flight and they were lucky enough to get back to their country as most overseas commentators had to be stuck in a country on the way.

Getting A Flight Just In Time, We Were Pretty Lucky – Adam Zampa’

Adam Zampa mentioned that he and Richardson were fortunate enough to get a flight and recollected people not believing that Australia would stop their own citizens from entering the country. He added that it was a combined decision between him and Richardson and finds it as the best decision at the time too.

“Getting a flight just in time, we were pretty lucky. It was a bit of a s***storm. I remember people saying to us they didn’t believe that Australia would lock out Australian citizens from their country then the next day, that happening. It was a bit bizarre. Kane and I made the decision together, thinking it was the best idea for us to get home,” Adam Zampa as quoted by Perth now.

Adam Zampa Feels The Australian Team Is Going Through A Rough Phase

Adam Zampa wasn’t happy with the tours of Bangladesh and West Indies where the men in yellow were outplayed in all departments and faced series defeats. Zampa mentioned that the team needs some time to reassess the situation and has kept his sight to win the upcoming Worldcup.

“We had a rough time as a team and I think we all actually needed a little bit of a physical and mental break. I went and spent every minute I possibly could just around home. I’d love nothing more than to win the World Cup. Anything less will be a disappointment,” He added’.
