It is not a surprise that CSK still holds the number 1 spot in TV Viewership ratings, and the man behind the reason for the popularity has been the ‘Thala’ MS Dhoni. However, it is essential to note that CSK did not play two editions of IPL and to rank first in TV viewership means that it is something extraordinary.

MS Dhoni is one of the most popular figures in India, and he has got immense support and love throughout the country despite his poor run of form. Having won three IPL titles in 2010, 2011, and 2018, CSK is undoubtedly one of the most consistent teams in IPL but are they really a dominant force ahead of Mumbai Indians? The answer is shown in numbers, with CSK topping the charts for TV viewership in five states without Tamil Nadu.

MS Dhoni Might Quit Playing And Start Taking Up The Mentor Role

MS Dhoni hinted at being in CSK colours next season and has noted that it could be a mentor and not only a player. MS Dhoni as a batsman this season, has scored just 96 runs in 10 innings, but he has led the team well, which is one of the main reasons for CSK’s success. However, his role in the side as a batsman next year will be uncertain.

“Well, you can see me in yellow next year…But whether I will be playing for CSK? There are a lot of uncertainties around it for the simple reason that we have two new teams coming up. We don’t know the retention policy. We don’t know how many foreigners, Indian players we can retain, the money cap that every player will be cutting from the kitty. So there are a lot of uncertainties.” MS Dhoni said on his IPL career.

CSK Has Grown 12 per cent In Viewership

CSK has certainly shown growth in terms of viewership by 12 per cent in the last three years, and it is because of the Dhoni factor in the side. On the other hand, the MI franchise is ranked second in viewership, while RCB, KKR, and DC follow these teams at 3rd, 4th, and 5th, respectively.

The love for MS Dhoni never stops in India, and the viewership is set to go above for Chennai Super Kings despite the legend not contributing enough with the bat.
