Batting first, CSK opener Faf du Plessis kept his wicket for a long time while other batsmen kept on losing their wickets. Plessis hit 76 runs while getting out in the final over of the match. In the end, CSK could reach 134-6 on the scoreboard.

For Punjab Kings, opener KL Rahul smacked unbeaten 98 runs off just 42 balls. His quickfire innings was enough to bag victory for PBKS in the match. He reached the target in just 13 overs as Punjab Kings won by 6 wickets. CSK pacer Shardul Thakur grabbed a 3-wicket haul.
