Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja produced a jaw-dropping display of his all-round skills to fire his side to a 69-run win over Royal Challengers Bangalore in Mumbai on Sunday. Ravindra Jadeja’s show was too much even for the star-studded Royal Challengers’ batting line-up to overcome. The 32-year old revealed that he has hardly had a better day than today.

Ruturaj Gaikwad and Faf Du Plessis began exceptionally well after MS Dhoni won the toss, as the opening par stitched a 74-run partnership. Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu crafted impactful cameos; however, Ravindra Jadeja stole the spotlight, overshadowing Du Plessis’ pristine fifty. Jadeja hammered Harshal Patel for 37 runs in the 20th over, carrying the Super Kings to 191. The southpaw reached his fifty in 25 balls and remained unbeaten at 62 in 28 deliveries, with all of his five sixes coming in the final over.

Royal Challengers Bangalore were off to a flying start as they reached 44 in three overs before Sam Curran removed Virat Kohli. Devdutt Padikkal’s quick-fire 34 ended when Shardul Thakur and Suresh Raina joined hands. But Ravindra Jadeja once again shone as he worked his magic with the ball. He dismissed Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, and Washington Sundar.

The Saurashtra-born cricketer also fired a direct hit to run out Daniel Christian at the striker’s end, making it exceptionally difficult for the opposition to recover. Jadeja’s figures read as 4-0-13-4 and almost single-handedly tilted the scales towards the yellow army. The Royal Challengers managed 122 off their 20 overs, suffering a heavy loss and slipping to the third spot in the points table.

Ravindra Jadeja underlined that he has hardly had a better day and been working on fitness and skill, which has paid off. The southpaw stated that being an all-rounder is a challenging job as one has to do reasonably well in all the departments and revealed that he does not work on all three during training sessions. Jadeja disclosed that he tried to hit the ball hard and said that MS Dhoni advised him to bowl outside off. He also lamented not taking a catch on the field today.

“Don’t think so I’ve had a better day. I’ve been working hard on my fitness, skill, everything. Luckily it paid off. It’s been a tough job being all-rounder, you have to do all departments. During training I don’t work on all three, I do skill work one day, training one day, fitness one day. I was just looking to hit it hard. Mahi bhai told me he would bowl somewhere outside off and luckily I connected. Today was not my day because I did not take a catch,” Jadeja told in the post-match presentation.
