Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir was quite clinical about the legendary players getting farewell for their sides, and he had a different view to the general mindset. David Warner has been out of the SRH playing XI in the last few games and is unlikely to feature in their playing XI for the last game against MI.
David Warner has been one of the consistent run-scorers for SRH in the last five to six seasons, and this has been the only season in which he has faltered a bit. He was not seen in the SRH dugouts in their last three games, and the questions have arisen on whether David Warner has to be given a farewell.
Gautam Gambhir Opines On The Farewell To David Warner
Gautam Gambhir mentioned that it is not mandatory to be presenting farewell to the legends of the game, and he wanted SRH to pick a playing XI through which they can win the game. SRH is coming off a win in their previous game, and they will have high hopes of finishing the tournament on a high.
“See, a lot of great players didn’t get farewells. We all know that even some legends didn’t, although legend is a big word. I don’t understand this system of farewells. Ultimately, you are playing to win the match,”Gautam Gambhir told
SunRisers’ Job Is To Win Matches And Not Give Farewells
Gautam Gambhir mentioned that Sunrisers should prioritize their winning mojo and not think about giving farewell to players. He added that Warner should be given a chance only if he fits into the playing XI and not for the emotions.
If your best playing XI includes him, then absolutely give him a chance. If not, then absolutely don’t give him a chance. As simple as it gets. SunRisers’ job is to win matches and not give farewells,” He added
Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on the Mumbai Indians in their upcoming game, and this will take place today at 7:30 PM.
