IPL 2021: If Any Team Deserved To Win The IPL, It's KKR - MS Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni had special words of praise for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) during the post-match presentation ceremony of the IPL 2021 final. CSK defeated KKR by 27 runs to lay hands on their fourth IPL title.

Dhoni appreciated the way KKR made a comeback after being in a terrible position at the end of the first leg. They had two wins in seven games but managed to make it to the finals after a resurgent performance in the second leg in UAE.

“Before I start talking about CSK, need to talk about KKR. Difficult to come back and do what they have, if any team deserved to win the IPL, it’s KKR. Huge credit to the coaches, team, and support staff. The break really helped them,” Dhoni said.

MS Dhoni keen on building a good future for CSK

When questioned about his future in the franchise, MS Dhoni didn’t reveal anything explicitly but he stated that it’s all about making sure the CSK franchise goes through the transition phase without much fuss.

“Again I’ve said it before, it depends on BCCI. With two new teams coming in……we have to decide what is good for CSK. It’s not about me being there in top-three or four. It’s about making a strong core to ensure the franchise doesn’t suffer. The core group, we have to have a hard look to see who can contribute for the next 10 years,” he said.

Dhoni has stated before that this season may not be his last and he will probably play a farewell match back in Chennai next season.
