The defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) have had a decent season so far, but they would be looking to stamp their authority in the remaining games with the addition of new players. Mumbai Indians struggled in the Chennai wicket and their batters felt the heat by not scoring enough runs. Rohit Sharma has been the best batsman on display for them.

However, they have shifted to Delhi now and the wickets have been better for them. They produced the second-highest successful chase in IPL history of 218 while Kieron Pollard’s blistering knock helped them to get to the total on the last ball.

Hardik Pandya has been out of form in the first few games and he is starting to find his rhythm back. Here are 3 players that Mumbai Indians can target in the mid-season transfer.

IPL 2021: 3 Players That Mumbai Indians (MI) Can Target:

Karun Nair:

Karun Nair has been on the sidelines for the KKR side and he hasn’t got any opportunity so far in the tournament for the Kolkata Knight Riders. KKR have relied on their  Indian batsman at the top and Karun Nair could be benched for the whole tournament. However, he could suit into the Mumbai Indians’ middle order which has been paltry so far.

Ishan Kishan has been dropped from the squad after consistent low scores and Krunal Pandya has been playing at the number four position. But Mumbai could bring in someone like Karun Nair who can be sent in at three, and Suryakumar Yadav can be pushed one place down to lengthen the batting.

Umesh Yadav:

Mumbai Indians do not have much experience in the Indian quicks apart from Bumrah and Dhawal Kulkarni and they have been relying on the former a lot. Umesh Yadav is one of the fastest bowlers in India and he is a very experienced campaigner too. He has been benched on the Delhi Capitals squad and hasn’t played a game yet so far in this IPL.

Mumbai can target Umesh Yadav to reduce the workload on Bumrah and give him some support at the other end. Bumrah and Trent Boult have formed a potent attack for the Mumbai Indians but the lack of the third seamer has affected them and they have tried out Coulter Nile and Adam Milne which hasn’t worked yet.

Jalaj Saxena:

Jalaj Saxena played one game in the IPL 2021 so far for the Punjab Kings and hasn’t made it to the playing XI since that. The off-spinner can be a handy option with the bat and also has vast experience in the domestic circuit. He has been very consistent and does offer a lot to the team.

Mumbai played Jayant Yadav in the recent games and he wasn’t too impressive despite being too economical. Saxena is a better option with the bat at seven for the Mumbai Indians and he can also bowl some useful off-spinners. Mumbai Indians should target him as off-spin all-rounders are always valuable additions.
