Punjab Kings have been very average so far in the 2021 IPL and they will be looking for a big turnaround in the second half of the tournament by making some changes to the team. Punjab has won three games and has lost four games in their campaign so far and they have a lot of work to do in their remaining games. They are lying fifth in the points table and they need to improve on their net run rate.

KL Rahul has been the top scorer for the franchise in the tournament and he is also leading the race for the orange cap this season. The main area of concern for Punjab has been the bowling department which hasn’t clicked and their new recruits Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith have struggled in the first few games.

Nicholas Pooran has also been out of form despite getting ample chances. Here are 3 players Punjab Kings can target in the mid-season transfer.

IPL 2021: 3 Players That Punjab Kings (PBKS) Can Target:

Jason Holder:

Punjab Kings do not have many all-rounders in the squad and it has been very difficult for the top order to be destructive with only six recognized batsmen in the side. They have tried getting in Moises Henriques and Fabien Allen but it hasn’t made much difference and Jason Holder could be the one to gel the team together.

Holder has played just one game for Sunrisers Hyderabad in this IPL and has been warming the bench. Jason Holder is a good medium pacer and can take wickets consistently and also, he can be a good finisher in the middle order with a lot of experience under his belt. He did very well in the previous IPL and does deserve a place in the playing XI.

Dhawal Kulkarni:

Dhawal Kulkarni has played just one game for Mumbai Indians so far in the tournament and he has been very expensive too. But he is an experienced campaigner and moves the ball both ways in the powerplay. Punjab has been struggling for an experienced Indian pacer to partner alongside Mohammad Shami and Kulkarni could be the best option.

Kulkarni played just one game in the last IPL too and he has been a backup option for Bumrah in the Mumbai Indians squad. But he can be very useful for the Punjab Kings as he is a good lower-order batsman and can provide a better option than the inexperienced Arshdeep Singh or Ishan Porel.

Lockie Ferguson:

The expensive buys of Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith haven’t been very effective so far in the tournament and the addition of Lockie Ferguson would serve the team really well. Ferguson is an out and right fast bowler and he can be a valuable asset for the Punjab Kings if he gets picked up in the mid-season transfer.

Ferguson has been warming the benches for the Kolkata Knight Riders so far, and he doesn’t look like getting a game after the four overseas slots being filled right now. With Shakib also in the mix, it is better for Ferguson to get picked up by any other team to have some game time. He can crank up really good speeds with the ball too.
