Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have packed their bowling with a lot of spinners considering the way the Chepauk pitch has played in the past by deciding to plug in the loopholes during the IPL auction 2021. They released three bowlers including the veteran; Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, and Monu Kumar from the squad ahead of the auction.

Chennai Super Kings in need of an off-spinning all-rounder bagged K Gowtham for 9.25 crore making him the most expensive uncapped player in the IPL history. They also roped in England all-rounder Moeen Ali, who can be used as a floater in the batting order and his off-spin can be handy in the Chennai conditions.

IPL 2021: 5 Bowlers From Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Who Can Be The Highest Wicket Taker:

5. Lungi Ngidi

Lungi Ngidi has taken 20 wickets in the 11 games he played in his IPL career at an excellent strike rate of 12.6. He did really well in the IPL 2019 after getting his maiden IPL chance and has a knack for picking up wickets at regular intervals.

He did not play most of the games in the last IPL as Chennai Super Kings needed to bring out the right balance but managed to pick up 9 wickets in the 4 games he played which depicts his wicket-taking ability. He could be the highest wicket-taker if he plays every game for the franchise this year.

4. Deepak Chahar

Deepak Chahar is still in the reckonings for the Indian team in the limited-overs setup and after an excellent start to his IPL career, he would be looking for a breakout year with the T20 WorldCup this year. His ability to swing the new ball and his variations in the death overs has been effective in the past.

Chahar had an excellent IPL 2019 where he finished as the third-highest wicket-taker picking up 22 wickets. His good performance earned him a maiden call-up for the Indian team.

3. Sam Curran

The England all-rounder Sam Curran has always been a handy addition to any team he plays as he can contribute with both bat and ball. He had a decent season for the Chennai Super Kings and was one of the few positives for the franchise last year.

He finished with 13 wickets in the 14 games he played and has the ability to be a wicket-taker always. He is the future prospect for replacing the ageing Dwayne Bravo.

2. Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo is one of the best bowlers going around in T20 cricket and he has won the purple cap previously twice in 2013 and 2015. He has played 140 games in his IPL career and has taken 153 wickets so far. The 37-year-old plays an important part if CSK needs to push hard for a title win.

Bravo has not been at his prime best in the last IPL and his injury concerns would be a major problem for CSK. However, Bravo still is one of the favourites to bag the purple cap this year.

1.Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir is surely one of the best match-winners on the Chennai Super Kings side as he can rip through any batting order. He bagged the purple cap in IPL 2019 with 26 wickets in 17 games. The former proteas leg spinner has been a standout performer around the world in global T20 tournaments.

He has picked up 80 wickets in the 58 games that he has played in his IPL career and he had to sit out last year for the most part to keep the right balance. His energy on the field is a great positive to have for the Chennai Super Kings side.
