IPL 2021 takes a countdown as the tournament is set to start next month. BCCI on Sunday announced the official dates for Indian Premier League 2021. IPL 2021 will commence with the first match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on April 9, 2021. Due to the Covid-19 situation, the tournament will only be held at six venues across the nation.

Mumbai Indians won the IPL trophies in IPL 2020 and IPL 2019 and they will eye a third consecutive victory in the tournament. The Rohit Sharma-led team has won the IPL titles for a record five times. Chennai Super Kings, which is led by MS Dhoni, will eye their fourth trophy of the tournament.

Kolkata Knight Riders won the IPL trophies in IPL 2012 and IPL 2014, and they will eye their third trophy in the IPL tournament. Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Delhi Capitals are the teams who will look to win their first title in IPL 2021.

39-year-old MS Dhoni will play his 14th IPL tournament in IPL 2021. The former Indian cricket captain is among the oldest players in IPL 2021. MS Dhoni has been part of the Indian Premier League since the first edition in IPL 2008. He has lead Chennai Super Kings in every edition in which the team played. Dhoni has played 204 matches in the Indian Premier League scoring 4632 runs. He has also smashed 23 half-centuries in the tournament.

Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan Singh is another cricketer who is among the oldest players in IPL 2021. Harbhajan Singh is 40 years old currently and has played in every edition of the Indian Premier League since 2008 except IPL 2020, in which he opted out citing personal reasons. He was released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of IPL 2021 and bought by Kolkata Knight Riders for Rs. 2 crore in IPL 2021 auction.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has played 160 matches in IPL so far and grabbed 150 wickets. From IPL 2008 to IPL 2017, Harbhajan Singh was part of Mumbai Indians. From 2018 to 2019, he was part of the Chennai Super Kings. Harbhajan Singh will continue his IPL journey in IPL 2021 but this time, he will part of Kolkata Knight Riders.

Chris Gayle is 41-year-old but he is still active in cricket. He is another player who comes on the list of oldest players in IPL 2021. Chris Gayle is part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2021. The West Indies batsman has been active in the Indian Premier League since 2009 and has been part of every season since then.

In IPL 2020, he could play only 7 games for Punjab Kings but smashed 23 sixes to amuse everyone. Gayle has played 132 matches in IPL so far and has many records to his name. He has scored 4772 runs in the tournament along with 31 half-centuries and 6 centuries. In the past, Chris Gayle has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.

Imran Tahir

Imran Tahir is 41-year-old at present and he is also among the oldest players who will play in IPL 2021. The South African spinner is part of the Chennai Super Kings. In IPL 2019, Imran Tahir bagged the limelight after winning the purple cap as he bagged most wickets (26) in the season. Tahir is active in IPL since 2014 and has played 58 matches so far, scalping 80 wickets. He was part of Delhi Capitals from IPL 2014 to IPL 2016. Since IPL 2018, he has been a member of the Chennai Super Kings.

Kedar Jadhav

Kedar Jadhav was bought by Sunrisers Hyderabad for Rs. 2 crore in IPL 2021 auction. He was released by Chennai Super Kings ahead of the mini-auction. Kedar Jadhav is 35 years old at present and by the time IPL 2021 starts, he will be 36 years old. Hence, he is another player who is among the oldest players in IPL 2021. Kedar Jadhav has been active in IPL since 2010. He has played 87 matches so far scoring 1141 runs.

The right-handed batsman was part of the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2010. Then he moved to Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2011. From IPL 2013 to IPL 2015, Jadhav represented Delhi Capitals. In IPL 2016 and IPL 2018, he played for Royal Challengers Bangalore. From IPL 2018 to IPL 2020, Kedar Jadhav was part of the Chennai Super Kings. With Sunrisers Hyderabad, Kedar Jadhav will embark on a new journey in IPL 2021.
