Rajasthan Royals will play their first match of IPL 2021 against Punjab Kings. Rajasthan Royals will have a new skipper in the form of Sanju Samson in IPL 2021. The team released their skipper Steve Smith from the squad due to the poor performance of the team in IPL 2020. Rajasthan Royals finished on the last 8th spot in IPL 2020. Rajasthan Royals will be short of ace pacer Jofra Archer in IPL 2021 as he has been ruled out of the tournament due to an elbow injury.

Ahead of IPL 2021 auction, Rajasthan Royals released 8 players from their squad. They were Steve Smith, Akash Singh, Anirudha Joshi, Ankit Rajpoot, Oshane Thomas, Shashank Singh, Tom Curran, and Varun Aaron. Out of these, Rajasthan Royals re-bought Akash Singh during the auction. Rajasthan Royals also bought 8 players during IPL 2021 auction.

Rajasthan Royals bought Shivam Dube for Rs. 4.4 crore during IPL 2021 auction. All-rounder Shivam Dube played for Royal Challengers Bangalore in IPL 2020 where he played 11 matches. He scored 129 runs and took 4 wickets. Earlier in IPL 2019, Dube played 4 matches for RCB. He is a young and emerging player in the Indian Premier League. Shivam Dube will play first time for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

Mustafizur Rahman

Mustafizur Rahman was bought for Rs. 1 crore during IPL 2021 auction. Mustafizur Rahman part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad which won the trophy in IPL 2016. It was Rahman’s debut IPL season in which he starred with 17 wickets in 16 matches. In IPL 2017, he only played 1 match for Sunrisers Hyderabad in which he remained wicket-less.

In IPL 2018, he played 7 matches for Mumbai Indians grabbing 7 wickets. The Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman will miss the first few games for Rajasthan Royals as he is bound to arrive late and will go under quarantine for a week. But he will surely make a debut for Rajasthan Royals as the team is also short of pacer Jofra Archer in IPL 2021.

Chetan Sakariya

Chetan Sakariya plays for Saurashtra at the domestic level. Rajasthan Royals bought him for Rs. 1.2 crore during IPL 2021 auction. Sakariya is a left-arm medium-pacer who has played 16 T20 matches so far. He has scalped 28 wickets. In his First-Class career, the 23-year-old cricketer has taken 41 wickets in 15 matches. He is another pacer who can debut for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

Akash Singh

Akash Singh has been part of Rajasthan Royals since IPL 2020, but he is yet to play a match for the team. Rajasthan Royals released Akash Singh ahead of IPL 2021 auction but bought him during the auction for Rs. 20 lakh. Akash Singh is a left-arm pacer who played for India in U-19 Aisa Cup 2019.

In the absence of Jofra Archer from the tournament and Mustafizur Rahman in the first match, Akash Singh has great chances of making a debut for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

KC Cariappa

KC Cariappa is a leg-break bowler, who became part of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2021 auction. He was part of Punjab Kings in IPL 2016 and IPL 2017. In IPL 2015 and IPL 2019, KC Cariappa represented Kolkata Knight Riders. So far, he has played 11 matches in IPL and bagged 8 wickets. Cariappa will represent Rajasthan Royals for the first time in IPL 2021.
