IPL 2021: Aakash Chopra Opines RCB Should Drop All-Rounder Dan Christian Against Delhi Capitals

Former Indian batsman Aakash Chopra felt that RCB should consider dropping Dan Christian owing to his poor form so far and bring in Daniel Sams as the replacement. Daniel Christian is one of the best T20 players in the world, but he has struggled to get going with the bat and the ball. He hasn’t taken a wicket so far in the five overs he has bowled and has scored just one run with the bat in three innings.

In the last game against CSK, he dropped Ravindra Jadeja, and he went on to make a merry of the bowling. It has been very tough for him so far, and RCB will be looking for his replacement in the upcoming games.

Finn Allen is an excellent wicket-keeper batsman at the top and there are Indian talents too in the dressing room. Royal Challengers Bangalore will play the in-form Delhi Capitals in a nail-biting encounter tonight at Ahmedabad.

Aakash Chopra Points Out Defects In RCB’s Middle Order

Aakash Chopra mentioned that RCB’s middle order has some shortcomings which they have to address soon. He told that there isn’t a proper batsman after Devilliers at five and Washington has been promoted up the order just to lengthen the batting. He added that Dan Christian should be replaced with Daniel Sams who can give four overs as well is no mug with the bat.

“The RCB batting is not weak but a little short. They are playing Washington at No.3 only to lengthen the batting. Otherwise, Devdutt, Virat, Maxwell and AB – there is no one at No.5. Washington or Dan Christian will have to play at No.5 and I don’t think RCB should play Dan Christian at all. They should think about playing Daniel Sams instead of Christian,” said Aakash Chopra.

Aakash Chopra Suggests RCB To Include Rajat Patidar

Aakash Chopra suggested RCB to create a place for Rajat Patidar in the team, which could move Washinton to number six, Jamieson at seven, and Daniel Sams at eight which looks much better. They might have to leave out Navdeep Saini and include an Indian batsman according to Aakash Chopra.

“They should create a place for Rajat Patidar in this team. So Rajat Patidar after Padikkal and Kohli, then Maxwell and AB, at No.6 you have Washington Sundar, at No.7 you have got Kyle Jamieson, Daniel Sams at No.8,” he added.

Shahbaz Ahmed will not be suitable for a ground like Ahmedabad and hence, he will have to wait for his opportunity again.
