IPL 2021: AB de Villiers To Join Royal Challengers Bangalore Squad Today; Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson To Reach UAE In Next Few Days

AB de Villiers will be joining the Royal Challengers Bangalore camp in UAE later today (September 6). Moreover, Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson will reach UAE in the next few days. The trio are the crucial overseas players for Virat Kohli-led RCB in IPL 2021. RCB squad have already reached UAE and are gearing up for the second leg of Indian Premier League 2021.

IPL 2021 UAE leg will commence on September 19 with the opening clash between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Royal Challengers Bangalore will lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders in their opening game. The match will take place on September 20 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. RCB currently hold the 3rd spot in the points table with 10 points. The team won 5 games and lost 2 during the 1st leg.

AB de Villiers Will Join RCB Squad Today, Informs Head Coach Mike Hesson

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Director of Head Operations and head coach Mike Hesson informed in a Youtube video that Ab de Villiers will join the RCB squad today. He also mentioned that Glenn Maxwell and Kyle Jamieson will reach UAE in the next few days.

“ABD is at the airport now, so he will be on his way, Maxwell will join us in 2-3 days, Kyle will join us on September 10”, said Hesson in an RCB’s Youtube video.

Glenn Maxwell, AB de Villiers, and Kyle Jamieson executed impressive performances for the team in the 1st leg of IPL 2021. While Glenn Maxwell was the team’s highest run-scorer with 223 runs in 6 innings, AB de Villiers was team’s 2nd highest run-getter with 207 runs in 6 innings. Both the batsmen also smashed 2 half-centuries each. New Zealand pacer Kyle Jamieson grabbed 9 wickets in 7 games, the most after Harshal Patel’s 17 scalps.

RCB will witness few changes in the UAE leg of IPL 2021. To begin with, RCB head coach Simon Katich has stepped down due to some personal reasons and Mike Hesson has taken over the responsibility. All-rounder Washington Sundar has been ruled out due to a finger injury and has been replaced by Bengal domestic cricketer Akash Deep.

RCB has also signed Sri Lanka players Wanindu Hasaranga and Dushmantha Chameera for the UAE leg to replace Adam Zampa and Daniel Sams respectively. Tim David has replaced Finn Allen for the remainder of the tournament. RCB skipper Virat Kohli is currently on national duty with the ongoing Test series against England. He will join the RCB camp in UAE later.
