With India’s international commitments done and dusted successfully, for now, star players have shifted their attention towards IPL 2021. Not only did India’s limited-overs leg against England ended magnificently, but also the Test series. But some of the retired cricketers and the men who did not feature in India’s white-ball sides joined their franchises well in advance. These included Chennai Super Kings’ Krishnappa Gowtham, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Robin Uthappa.

Chennai Super Kings recruited Krishnappa Gowtham and Cheteshwar Pujara in IPL 2021, with the former fetching a record price of INR 9.25 crores and Pujara for a modest 50 lakhs. On the other hand, the yellow army traded Robin Uthappa from the Rajasthan Royals. The Kerala-born batsman expressed his excitement to play under MS Dhoni and wishes to become the first batsman to make 1000 runs in an IPL season.

The yellow army also received a boost in the form of Sam Curran and Moeen Ali joining CSK’s bubble in Mumbai. Sam Curran’s fireworks in the third ODI against India bodes well for the MS Dhoni-led side as his unbeaten 95 off 83 deliveries nearly carried England to an unlikely win. On the other hand, Moeen Ali stunned Virat Kohli in the same game with his off-spin and played a brief cameo. The Super Kings roped him in for INR 7 crores.
