IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals Bowler Manimaran Siddharth Injured And Ruled Out Of UAE Leg, Replacement Announced

IPL franchise Delhi Capitals‘ left-arm spinner Manimaran Siddharth has been ruled out of the UAE leg of.

The 23-year-old left-arm spinner was ruled out of the remaining IPL as he incurred a quadriceps strain during training in Dubai.

Kulwant Khejroliya replaces Manimaran Siddharth for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2021

Kulwant Khejroliya, who was already present in the Capitals camp as their net bowler, has taken 17 wickets in 15 T20 matches at an average of 23.29. Khejroliya was picked by RCB in 2018 and played five matches for them before he was released in the 2020 window.

Siddharth impressed everyone with his 4/20 for Tamil Nadu against Baroda in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final.

Although Siddharth never got a chance to represent Delhi Capitals as the presence of senior spinners like R Ashwin, Axar Patel and Amit Mishra meant the Tamil Nadu bowler had to wait for his chance.

“The Delhi Capitals support staff is currently overlooking Manimaran Siddharth’s rehabilitation programme in Dubai. He will be heading back to India in a few days where he will continue to undergo rehabilitation,” a statement from the franchise read. 

Delhi Capitals are currently leading the point table, having won six out of their eight matches in the first phase of IPL 2021. The comeback of middle-order batsman Shreyas Iyer will boost the team’s confidence.

Rishabh Pant will continue as the team’s leader for the remaining IPL 2021 as Iyer will focus solely on his batting.

With 380 runs, Shikhar Dhawan is the highest run-scorer for the Delhi Capitals and Avesh Khan, with 14 wickets, leads the bowling charts for the team.

Delhi Capitals will resume their IPL 2021 campaign against Sunrisers Hyderabad on September 22 at Dubai International Stadium.
