The IPL has been a platform for the players to express themselves and there have been a lot of records shattered over the years in the history of the tournament. The youngsters haven’t shown any fear despite playing on a big stage like IPL while the experienced veterans have taken their game to the next level through competitiveness.

The T20 format has always been very entertaining for the fans and these players who have been smacking it to all parts of the world are one of the reasons for it. It is time to look at the five fastest 50s in IPL history so far.

Chris Gayle makes almost every T20 record list in the book and it is one of the reasons for him to be portrayed as the God of T20 cricket. Gayle playing for the Pune Warriors India in 2013 struck the highest individual score in T20s with a 175 run knock of 66 deliveries.

Gayle in the process of playing the tremendous knock got his 50 in just 17 balls and it is the joint fifth fastest in IPL history. He finished with 13 fours and 17 sixes in the innings and tore the bowlers to all parts.

Suresh Raina played one of the best innings in IPL history with an 87 run knock in just 25 balls for the Chennai Super Kings side against the Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2 in 2014. Punjab batted first and Virender Sehwag’s century took the team total to a massive 226 for the loss of 6 wickets.

In reply, CSK got off to a mindblowing start with the team getting to 100 at the end of the powerplay. Suresh Raina was solely responsible for the assault and he brought up his half-century in just 16 balls. However, once Raina was dismissed, CSK lost its way and ended up losing the game by 24 runs in the end.

Sunil Narine holds the record for the second equivalent fastest in IPL and he managed to make the list with his 15 balls fifty in 2017 in Bengaluru. Narine opening for the KKR side alongside Chris Lynn produced a master class of innings in a chase of 158.

Narine finished with 54 off 17 deliveries hitting six fours and four sixes in the innings and took his countrymate Samuel Badree apart. Kolkata ended up winning the game by 6 wickets and with almost 5 overs left in the game.

Yusuf Pathan is equally second in the list of players with the fastest 50s in IPL history and the Baroda all-rounder achieved the feat in 2014 playing for the KKR side. Yusuf who is known for his big-hitting skills desperately needed an innings like that to gain confidence and form.

He raised to his fifty in just 15 balls and finished with 72 in 22 balls against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in a chase of 161. He hit five fours and seven sixes in the quickfire innings and got KKR over the line in just 14.2 overs to increase the net run rate.

KL Rahul holds the record for the fastest fifty in IPL history with the 14 balls fifty he got in the 2018 season for the Punjab Kings against the Delhi Daredevils. The right-hander opened the batting alongside Mayank Agarwal in a chase of 167 and Punjab raised to fifty before the end of 3 overs.

Rahul smashed the Delhi bowlers to all parts with six fours and four sixes in his 16 ball innings and he played at a strike rate of 318.75. Punjab went on to win the game easily through the start given by KL Rahul with seven balls to spare.
