Former Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Gautam Gambhir slammed current team captain Eoin Morgan after the match between CSK and KKR in Abu Dhabi.

On Sunday, KKR lost to CSK by two wickets in a match that went down to the wire after a lot of turns and twists took place.

Eoin Morgan’s KKR lost in a nail-biting match against CSK

CSK required 26 runs to win in the final two overs, with Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran at the crease all-rounders. Jadeja exploded against Prasidh Krishna in the penultimate over of the match as the southpaw blazed 20 runs from the last four balls to reduce the equation to four runs from six balls.

Despite Sunil Narine’s dazzling over, CSK managed to cross the finishing line on the final ball as Deepak Chahar cleared the carrom ball towards the mid-wicket region to get a single and help CSK win by two wickets.

I would have given up the captaincy: Gautam Gambhir

During the matches, Morgan was seen receiving code from England analyst Nathan Leamon, who was appointed by the franchise as a strategic consultant in January this year.

Gambhir, who led KKR to two IPL titles in 2012 and 2014, wasn’t comfortable with such tactics and said that he would have stepped down from the role if such a kind of situation had taken place during his period.

“When all the messages are being given from outside, there is no need of a captain on the ground. Had I been in this situation, I would have given up the captaincy. This is not the right way,” Gambhir said on Star Sports.

KKR had won just two of their seven matches in the first leg of IPL 2021 but since the tournament has been moved to the UAE, the team has regrouped well and won two games in a row before losing to CSK on Sunday.

KKR will play their next match against Delhi Capitals on Tuesday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
