IPL 2021: Glenn Maxwell Looks A Lot Happier At RCB - Sunil Gavaskar

Sunil Gavaskar, former India captain, has opined that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Glenn Maxwell looks a lot happier with the Virat Kohli-led franchise in the ongoing IPL 2021 when compared to the previous seasons, especially in IPL 2020.
Maxwell had a horror season for Punjab Kings in IPL 2020, which was played in UAE, as he managed just 108 runs in 13 matches for PBKS and the batter famous for his big-hitting antics, failed to hit a single six in the IPL 13 tournament. As a result, he was released by the franchise before the IPL 2021 auction.
RCB showed trust in Maxwell, buying the all-rounder for Rs 14.25 crore in the IPL 2021 auction. And in 10 matches after signing for RCB, he has hit 300 runs and picked up 3 wickets.
“He seems a lot happier at RCB than last year. You can see that in his performance. If you are happy at a particular place, if you think I want to make a contribution, want to make a difference, then you go out and try your best. That’s what he is doing,” Gavaskar told Star Sports.
I Think He Is Happy In The Company Of Virat Kohli And AB De Villiers: Sunil Gavaskar On Glenn Maxwell
Sunil Gavaskar also said that the reason behind Glenn Maxwell’s less tense way of playing for RCB is because he knows that there are other match-winners in Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in the team as well, and he doesn’t have all the burden of winning matches.
“I think he is happy in the company of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. Maybe those two have taken the pressure of expectations from him. When he was at the Punjab Kings, the pressure of expectation was on him to turn the games around. But he knows he has got two match-winners in AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli and the pressure is not only on him,” Gavaskar added.
Maxwell was the main reason why RCB defeated defending champions MI in their last encounter by 54 runs as he smashed 3 sixes and 6 boundaries for a 37-ball 56 and also picked two wickets in an all-around show.
