IPL 2021: He Is Under The Radar Of Virat Kohli And AB de Villiers - Michael Vaughan Explains Why RCB Is The Right Franchise For Glenn Maxwell

Former England captain, Michael Vaughan feels that the Royal Challengers Bangalore is just the right franchise for Glenn Maxwell to succeed in the IPL. Maxwell, who scored 108 runs in the entire season last year, has already scored 176 runs with 2 fifties at a strike rate of 149.15 this season.
On Sunday, he launched a counter-attack against the Kolkata Knight Riders with a blistering 78 off 49 balls after RCB lost two early wickets, and set up the platform for AB de Villiers to wreak havoc at the death.
Michael Vaughan reckons the Australian would flourish well at RCB and have found the franchise suitable to him – similar to Moeen Ali who after spending 3 underwhelming seasons at RCB is making prolific returns at CSK hitherto.

“Glenn Maxwell is an incredible cricketer. He has never really flown in the IPL. Like we said about Moeen Ali, Chennai appears to be the spiritual fit for him, and the right kind of franchise for Moeen Ali. I really feel, RCB is the right franchise for Glenn Maxwell,” Michael Vaughan said while speaking with Cricbuzz.
He is not getting as much attention as he gets at other teams: Michael Vaughan
The 46-year-old explains the reason for his remarks: Vaughan points out that Maxwell wouldn’t garner the limelight at RCB as he got at other teams. The Englishman asserted that the 32-year-old all-rounder will fly under the shadow of Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers at RCB which liberates him of any extra pressure.
He praises the RCB management to rope in the Victorian at the auction in spite of his heavy price. Virat Kohli’s side sits atop of the points table and is the only team to remain unbeaten in the season so far. They have completed their Chennai leg and will move to Mumbai to face Rajasthan Royals on Thursday.

“Here, he is under the radar, because you have got Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, he is like at the third position, whereas in other teams, he is the one from who usually expectations are high.
“But now he can sneak under the radar and probably he is not getting as much attention as he gets at other teams. Because there is Virat there, and there is AB de Villiers there. I think it’s a been smart move. Maxwell is a great signing this year for RCB,” Michael Vaughan elucidated.
