The 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is about to kickstart in two weeks and all eight teams have already started preparing. Interestingly, Chennai Super Kings have unveiled their jersey, which has some glaring components on it, making it look quite attractive. But there is also an exciting story behind crafting the yellow jersey that fans would be surprised to know.

The Chennai Super Kings’ jersey has donned a new look ahead of IPL 2021, with Myntra being their sponsors. The jersey has three stars on the top of the franchise’s logo, depicting their three-title victories in 2010, 2011, and 2018. The yellow T-shirt also has a touch of the army to it since most people know MS Dhoni’s respect towards them.

Yet, the most striking revelation amongst all of it is that the Super Kings’ jersey is made of recycled plastic only and 15 plastic bottles went into the cause of a single one. The polyester in the T-shirt consumes 90% less water and will reportedly minimize the carbon emissions into the environment by 270 grams.

As for their performance, Chennai Super Kings would be aiming to put on a much better show compared to the one in IPL 2020. The 13th season, conducted in the UAE, saw the yellow army failing to reach the playoffs for the first time and finished in the 7th spot. MS Dhoni’s men could conjure only six wins from 14 matches, rendering them to exit in the group stage.

The three-time champions would be glad to see Suresh Raina returning for the 14th season, having missed the previous one due to personal reasons. With 5368 runs in 193 IPL games, the southpaw is the second-highest run-getter and is a terrific fielder alongside being the vice-captain. Thus, it bodes well for the former IPL crown-holders. They will play their first game against the Delhi Capitals on the 10th of April in Mumbai.
