Legendary West Indies cricketer Brian Lara has opined that all-rounder Jason Holder was the shining light for team Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the disastrous Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season.
Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a horrible run in the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), throughout the season they kept struggling and were trying to find the best playing XI combination but till the very end of the season, they were unable to find one. Eventually, for the first time in the last six seasons, they failed to qualify for the playoffs and ended the season at the bottom of the table with only 3 victories in 14 games.
The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 was filled with negativity for Sunrisers Hyderabad and there were very few positives for them. One of the biggest positives was the form of West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder.
Although he got limited opportunities he shined in all of them. The mega auction is all set to take place for the 15th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 and Sunrisers Hyderabad is expected to undergo a complete revamp.
I Feel SRH Can Build A Team Around Jason Holder – Brian Lara
Former West Indies cricketer Brian Lara feels that Sunrisers Hyderabad can build a team around Holder in the next season.
“Jason Holder is the shining light in a disastrous season. I’m not sure if he is an out and out T20 player, but I feel they can build a team around him,” Lara told Cricket.com.
Lara further added that, although the team can be built around Jason Holder the captain of the team has to be an Indian player as only 4 overseas players are allowed in the team and carrying an overseas skipper doesn’t give flexibility to the team.
“It’s always great to have a local player to lead the side because you only have four selections in the playing XI and you are carrying the captain in that. There is a big auction coming up and SRH have a lot of shaking up to do. Let’s see how they will get the right group to move forward,” he said.
