In the recent news, the Delhi Capitals squad will be bolstered by further options as Ishant Sharma is declared fit and available for their clash with Mumbai Indians on Tuesday in Chennai. The senior pacer hasn’t featured in Delhi Capitals’ 3 games so far as he had a niggle.

However, now, the 32-year-old has recovered and is deemed fit for the remainder of the season. Sources in the Delhi Capitals camp confirmed the news to ANI, that Sharma is “good to go” having last played any professional game in the home Test series against England.

“He was struggling with a heel niggle, but he is good to go now. Had to take it slow and easy as we have a long road ahead of us and he is an integral part of the bowling attack,” the source told ANI.

While at the start of the season, if he was fit, Ishant would have been the first-choice pacer at the Wankhede. However, now Rishabh Pant’s side has left Mumbai, with 3 wins in 2 matches, and will play their next couple of games on the slow and spin assisting track in Chennai.

Ishant stands a chance to replace Lukman Meriwala, who didn’t have an ideal debut for the Delhi Capitals against Punjab Kings returning with figures of 3-0-32-1; however, Amit Mishra, who featured in DC’s first match versus Chennai Super Kings also will be in contention for a return to the eleven considering the nature of the pitch at Chepauk.

Last season Sharma played in just a solitary game for the Delhi Capitals as he picked up an injury, and was sidelined for the entire tournament; he also missed the entire tour to Australia.

For us, the challenge will be to switch on mentally according to the wicket: Delhi Capitals batter Shikhar Dhawan

Shikhar Dhawan, who is currently the orange cap holder with 186 runs, reckons the major challenge for Delhi Capitals’ players would be to adapt to the conditions in Chennai and adjust their game plan according to that. He points out that Rohit Sharma’s side has already played 3 games – and won 2 – at Chepauk, so they would have the advantage of playing there beforehand.

“MI has played 2-3 three over there before so they know the conditions, for us the challenge will be to switch on mentally according to the wicket and prepare our plan and just go and implement it and play with a positive mindset, aggression and look to win the game,” Dhawan in a video posted on the official Twitter handle of Delhi Capitals.
