Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman is likely to miss the side’s first couple of matches as his UAE visa is yet to be granted. Upon arrival, he will have to undergo a six-day mandatory quarantine period before joining the squad.
The 14th season of the IPL is just four days away from resuming. Most of the franchises have set up camps in UAE cities. Even the majority of the players have arrived but Mujeeb is yet to turn up. His availability hasn’t been confirmed either.
According to a source, the Afghanistan spinner doesn’t have a set date to join the team. The youngster hasn’t received a visa so at the least, he will miss the games against Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
“It is still being worked on and there is no clear date as to when Mujeeb can join his franchise. His entry visa is still being worked on and there should be an update soon,” the source said to ANI.
Mujeeb ur Rahman’s teammates have landed in the UAE ahead of IPL 2021
Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, on the other hand, landed in the UAE on Tuesday. They have started their quarantine period and should be available for selection on time. The duo has endured tough times back home but another source confirmed their mental state has remained strong.
“They are very much in UAE and undergoing quarantine. They are not just professionals, they are family and the team will take complete care of them not just during the tournament but at all times. The management will ensure they are in the best frame of mind and perform to the best of their ability,” the source revealed.
Mujeeb ur Rahman played just a solitary game for SRH in the first leg of the IPL 2021. He had figures of 2/29 in his four-over quota. Rashid Khan on the other hand has claimed 10 wickets at an average of 17.20. SRH sits in eighth place with just one win from seven games.
