Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder Dwayne Bravo revealed that his passion and love for the T20 format keeps him going strong in the different leagues around the world. The legendary player earned the Man of the Match award for his figures of 3/24 in four overs against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Friday.
Bravo has turned into a death-overs specialist for MS Dhoni. He is generally brought in during the last 10 overs where he thrives with his slower deliveries and yorkers. He was on fire tonight and pulled things back for CSK just when RCB batsmen were looking to unleash.
“IPL is the toughest competition in the world. It works on some days and some days it doesn’t. My pride and my love for this game keep me going. Virat was a very important wicket and RCB are a big side. I just wanted to keep it simple,” he said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
“Experience will always get us through in this franchise” – Dwayne Bravo
CSK is termed as an ‘old’ side with plenty of players well into their thirties. However, they are potentially the best fielding side in the league with fielders like Ravindra Jadeja and Faf du Plessis going around. Even during crunch situations, the experience of the side will help them power through, as pointed out by Dwayne Bravo.
“Experience will always get us through in this franchise. The message from the coach in the dressing room is that we might not always be the quickest but we will get the job done. We need to stay safe from the over-rate fines as well (laughs),” Bravo added.
The comfortable six-wicket victory ensured that CSK return to the top of the table by virtue of their excellent net run-rate which has all but guaranteed them a spot in the playoffs.
