Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul spoke highly of his bowling attack which defended a low total of 125 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad, claiming the victory by 5 runs in Sharjah after Jason Holder, who had already dented Punjab with three wickets, pushed the game till the last ball with his brilliant 47* off 29 balls.

KL Rahul also believed that his side were 20-30 runs less, but for now the right-hander is happy to take the victory which keeps their playoffs destiny in their own hands.

“We are playing some entertaining cricket and have been doing for the last two or three years, but I’ll take the win. He (Holder) played exceedingly well. First with the ball, taking those two wickets in an over and then batted really well, on a track where it was difficult to play the big shots,” KL Rahul said at the post-match presentation.

Mohammed Shami romped Punjab back in the game with wickets of David Warner and Kane Williamson in the powerplay before Ravi Bishnoi did his magic, snapping out three middle-order batters’ wickets. KL Rahul lauded both of them.

“We wanted to get another 20-30 more runs but we’ll take the win. It gives us a belief that no matter what the situation is, our bowlers can get the opposition out if we get a decent score. Shami to start of, bowled really well, getting two big batters in Warner and Williamson. Made it easier for our spinners to settle into a nice line and length.

“Lesson for the batsmen would be to realise that it’s not a 160-170 surface, if we had built a few partnerships, we could have got to 140-150.”

Harpreet has been good for us; he can do everything: KL Rahul

The PBKS skipper had a special mention for spin-bowling all-rounder Harpreet Brar, whose 18 off 18 towards the end took his side over 120. The left-hander, who had won a game with the ball for Punjab against RCB earlier in the season, gained plenty words of praise from KL Rahul.

“He (Harpreet) has been good for us, he can do everything. Has finished some games for us, also gives us control with the ball and is great in the field. Everytime I go to him, he tells me ‘Paaji (Brother) don’t worry, I won’t leak runs’. That’s his attitude,” the opener concluded.

With this win, PBKS moved up in the points table to the fifth position; they have 8 points and are tied with three other teams. One of those teams is Mumbai Indians, whom they will meet on Tuesday in Abu Dhabi.
