The IPL teams that have a good batting lineup have half their job done and with the IPL 2021 to be held in India with flat wickets mostly, batting is going to be a key factor. In the past, we have seen that teams with good batting lineup have cherished success often and this year is going to be no different.

The IPL 2021 Auction witnessed one of the most interesting buys as the teams went all out for certain particular stars who can turn the game on its head. Glenn Maxwell despite his poor record in the last few years in the IPL was bought by the RCB for prize money of 14.25 crore which is a high risk. All-rounders have always had a liking from the teams, and Chris Morris due to his all-around abilities became the most expensive player in the IPL history.

IPL 2021: Rating All 8 Teams On The Basis Of Their Batting Line Up:

8. Rajasthan Royals – 6.5/10

Rajasthan Royals are a team that relies too much on overseas contingent and they have got a pretty inexperienced Indian outfit. They have bought Shivam Dube to bolster their batting lineup but still looks like a lot of holes are there in the batting. With Samson taking over as the new captain, they will need a lot more contributions from the middle order. Their only positive was the efforts of Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag who won them matches splendidly but couldn’t do it consistently.

They have been changing their batting order for so long and they ended with Ben Stokes and Robin Uthappa as their openers. Uthappa has been traded now to CSK, which means they will have to open with Manan Vohra or Yashasvi Jaiswal alongside Ben Stokes. If they open with Sanju Samson, they have to bring in an Indian batsman like Mahipal Lomror in the middle order which makes it even tough for them in IPL 2021.

7. Sunrisers Hyderabad – 7/10

Sunrisers always had an excellent top order with the likes of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow at the top. Due to the inexperienced Indian middle-order not helping, they had to drop Bairstow and accommodate the likes of Kane Williamson and Jason Holder to give a sense of security in the middle order.

They have bought in an experienced middle-order batsman Kedar Jadhav who has been effective in the past. They also have Vijay Shankar, Priyam Garg, Abishek Sharma, and Abdul Samad as the options for the middle order. If Wriddhiman Saha can do well at the top of the order, then most of their problems will be sorted for the IPL 2021.

6. Punjab Kings – 7.5/10

Punjab Kings has one of the most destructive top order with the likes of KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal opening the batting. Chris Gayle coming in at three is a great boost for the team and they have made a good addition to the middle order buying Shahrukh Khan who can finish the innings really well with Nicholas Pooran.

They need a good all-rounder at 7 and it is going to be a problem for the Punjab Kings with fewer options. They have bought Moises Henriques who is much of a top-order batsman and is not assured of completing his four overs. Chris Jordan is more of a number 8 and coming in at 7 will make the batting have a long tail in the IPL 2021.

 5. Royal Challengers Bangalore –  7.5/10

Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers

Royal Challengers Bangalore has two of the best batsmen from the decade including Virat Kohli and AB Devilliers. Devdutt Padikkal has been one of the finds of the tournament last year and he is set to play all the games for RCB. They have bought in domestic sensation Mohammad Azharudeen who is a blistering batsman and can open the innings for IPL 2021/

They will surely play Maxwell at 4 or 5 and he can be a useful addition in the middle order in the small boundaries of Chinnaswamy Stadium. They do not have many options after Maxwell as they have released Shivam Dube and Gurkeerat Singh ahead of the auction. They will need to play Sachin Baby or experienced Daniel Christian in the middle order for the IPL 2021.

4. Kolkata Knight Riders – 8/10

Andre Russell

Kolkata Knight Riders have one of the best middle orders in the tournament including captain Eoin Morgan, Dinesh Karthik, and Andre Russell. Shubman Gill has been prolific at the top of the order and they will be looking to play Nitish Rana at the top with the left-right combination in the IPL 2021

They have bought in Karun Nair who can be used at three, and they have the backup options with Rahul Tripathi in the reckonings. They have also got the services of Shakib Al Hasan who can play at three if needed, but they will need to drop either Andre Russell or Sunil Narine is which is more unlikely to happen. They have sorted their batting woes almost, but the inexperienced top order will need to provide good starts in the IPL 2021.

3. Chennai Super Kings – 8.5/10

Suresh Raina

Chennai Super Kings have always stocked up their batting order with a lot of all-rounders and they will be happy to welcome the services of Suresh Raina who can be the difference for them. They have let go of Kedar Jadhav and Watson has retired which will now open up opportunities for the youngsters in IPL 2021. They have one of the best batting lineups this year and look more settled.

They are most likely to open with Robin Uthappa and Faf Du Plessis which can be a deadly combination with Raina coming in at three. Their middle order is boasted with the likes of Ms Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, and Ravindra Jadeja. Sam Curran can be used as a floater anywhere in the batting order while the batting depth continues if Bravo is in the mix. They have also roped in K Gowtham for the IPL 2021 who can tonk it coming lower down the order.

2. Delhi Capitals – 8.5 /10

Shikhar Dhawan

Delhi Capitals have got a strong Indian core batting lineup that includes Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw at the top, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant in the middle order. They can use Rahane as a backup opener or at 3 and have the services of Steve Smith who can also bat at three. Marcus Stoinis had an excellent outing last year and finished a lot of games on his own.

With Axar and Ashwin at 7 and 8, the batting depth continues and they have got the backup option for Stoinis as Tom Curran or Chris Woakes. They look pretty solid at the top and in the middle with Hetmyer on the sidelines and this could be a massive year for them in the IPL 2021.

1.Mumbai Indians – 9/10

Mumbai Indians have won the IPL title more times than any other franchise due to an excellent squad and some masterstrokes in the auction. They have the likes of Rohit and De Kock at the top with Chris Lynn as the backup option while Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan were the standouts last year at 3 and 4. They have got the best middle order with the Pandya brothers and Kieron Pollard who are all excellent finishers.

With Nathan Coulter Nile coming at 8, they have got some batting depth and they have added Piyush Chawla who can also be handy with the bat. They have covered all their bases with a lot of backup options for every role and are looking strong to win their third consecutive title in the IPL 2021.
