IPL 2021: Sanjay Manjrekar Refers To AB de Villiers As Better Than Genius

Former Indian batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has been in awe of Royal Challengers Bangalore keeper-batsman AB De Villiers. AB De Villiers produced a match-winning knock against the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2021 season opener on Friday in Chennai to take his side over the line. Sanjay Manjrekar believes that if a word is better than genius, it describes the former South African captain.
AB De Villiers has been the bedrock of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s batting line-up ever since he joined the franchise. The right-handed batsman plays innovatively and has rescued the Royal Challengers from several troublesome positions. De Villiers has also shared some of the most memorable partnerships with Virat Kohli and forged a fearsome duo.
The Royal Challengers’ clash with the Mumbai Indians saw AB De Villiers rose to the occasion as his team underwent a wobble. The 37-year old played a vital knock of 48 off 27 deliveries, laced with four fours and a couple of maximums. De Villiers got run out in the last over as the Royal Challengers needed seven runs; however, the three-time finalists got home in the final ball with two wickets to spare as they required a single.
Earlier, after Bangalore’s captain Virat Kohli elected to field first, the bowling unit did exceptionally well to limit the defending champions to 159 in 20 overs. Right-arm seamer Harshal Patel claimed his maiden fifer, while Kyle Jamieson and Mohammed Siraj took one wicket each. Virat Kohli’s men will next meet the SunRisers Hyderabad on the 14th of April in Chennai.
Below is Sanjay Manjrekar’s tweet for AB De Villiers:
English not my strong suit. What’s the adjective for ‘better than genius’?
That’s what AB is! Really! ????#RCBvsMI— Sanjay Manjrekar (@sanjaymanjrekar) April 9, 2021
