The recent Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals in Sharjah saw an argument break out in the middle between KKR captain Eoin Morgan and DC’s Ravichandran Ashwin. Both the players were arguing with one another as the umpires and other players tried to get in between them and douse the fire.

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) defeated Delhi Capitals in a fairly contested encounter in Sharjah after Eoin Morgan won the toss and opted to bowl first. DC batters couldn’t come to terms with the Sharjah pitch and managed just 127/9 in 20 overs with Rishabh Pant and Steve Smith both making 39 and Shikhar Dhawan contributing 24 runs. For KKR, Sunil Narine, Lockie Ferguson, and Venkatesh Iyer all picked two wickets each.

It was during DC’s innings that a fight broke out between Morgan and Ashwin in the final over of their innings. KKR pacer Tim Southee gave a verbal sendoff to Ashwin after dismissing him and Ashwin gave it back to the New Zealand fast bowler. This led to Morgan interjecting himself and having a few choice words with Ashwin as well.

Ashwin removed his helmet and walked towards Morgan only for KKR keeper Dinesh Karthik to hold him back and asking him to continue his walk back to the pavilion.

“Both sides played the game hard. On a hot day, things can boil over. Thankfully it didn’t. We all played in the right spirit. And its a tough contest against Delhi Capitals. Full credit has to go to our coach Brendon McCullum. Its his ethos, his mindset, and the boys have bought into that,” Morgan said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Nitish Rana remained not out on 36 guiding the team past the finishing line, while Shubman Gill made 30 runs. KKR will next face Punjab Kings on Friday in Dubai.
