IPL 2021: Twitter Reacts As Chennai Super Kings Register A Commanding Win After Rajasthan Royals' Middle-Order Capitulation
Updated - 20 Apr 2021, 01:19 AM
Chennai Super Kings triggered a middle-order collapse after Jos Buttler’s 49 as they defended 188 on a tricky Wankhede surface in Mumbai to record their second victory in IPL 2021. Chennai Super Kings, who were put to bat first by Rajasthan Royals’ captain Sanju Samson, set 189 to win as none of the batsmen could convert their starts to big scores. Faf Du Plessis top-scored with 33, while Ambati Rayudu and Moeen Ali made vital contributions.

Chennai Super Kings made a relatively slow start before Ruturaj Gaikwad perished in the fourth over, followed by Faf Du Plessis two overs later. Moeen Ali made a promising 26, laced with a boundary and two maximums, but could not carry on and holed out to deep mid-wicket. Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu added 45 off 26 deliveries before throwing it away. The three-time champions managed to put a stiff score following some pyrotechnics from MS Dhoni, Sam Curran, and Dwayne Bravo. Chetan Sakariya dismissed the likes of MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu to claim figures of 4-0-36-3.
Jos Buttler and Manan Vohra responded to the tall chase as they began smashing quick runs before the latter and captain Sanju Samson perished. Buttler and all-rounder Shivam Dube restored some stability; however, the England keeper-batsman departed for 49, missing out on a well-deserved half-century. Shivam Dube departed in the final ball of the same over, while David Miller, Riyan Parag, and Chris Morris walked back to the pavilion cheaply in a stunning capitulation.
By the time the Royals were playing the 16th over, the Super Kings’ spinners had killed the game by reducing the opposition to 105/7, as the surface started gripping and clearing the ground even for Rahul Tewatia became challenging. Ravindra Jadeja and Moeen Ali shared five wickets between them to destroy the Royals’ batting line-up. Jadeja, who picked two scalps, took four catches on the field and saved several runs by covering a lot of ground. Following the collapse, Jaydev Unadkat and Tewatia a few boundaries to give their side something to cheer about and the Chennai Super Kings had almost accumulated two points by registering a 45-run win .
Here’s how Twitter reacted to the 12th match of IPL 2021 between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals:
Intent hi clear nahi hai. Bihu karne se kuch nahi hoga.
Manan Vohra, Riyan Parag and Shivam Dube should be sent to dug out. Bring Kartik Tyagi, Mahipal Lomror instead. Give these two a chance atleast.— Pika Pi (@Pikaaapiiii) April 19, 2021
He may not have the power like he used to with the Bat MSD,but he is still the best T20 tactician we have ever seen … #IPL @ChennaiIPL ?

And #MSD’s advice to #Jadeja changes the momentum in favour of #csk “bowlers biggest cushion #Dhoni” #RRvCSK #VIVOIPL

Amazing how what seems to be a good result can go against you. #RR were looking good at 79-2 in the 10th when Buttler hit Jadeja for 6. It meant the ball had to be changed and the drier ball caused havoc with Moeen and Jadeja.

If Dhoni was a Pakistani, then this Nation would have saluted him every day after these many achievements. https://t.co/tfncJQLNaA

The ball has found the hands of Riyan Parag & Shikhar Dhawan more times in the IPL than the number of times SRH has pulled off a chase in the tournament so far.

Riyan Parag and Shikhar Dhawan are brothers of catches in #IPL2021

Rayudu, Raina and Dhoni. Sakariya has won the battle between experience and youth. #CSKvRR #IPL2021

Think @CurranSM should open. He is being wasted as low as this.

So good to see @DJBravo47 smashing ? the ball to all parts. Just hold onto the bat brother ?? Good score by @ChennaiIPL, should be a good chase!! #CSKvsRR

A great team effort by @ChennaiIPL batsman to put a strong total on the board! Looks like the Yellow brigade is back! Special mention to the youngster #sakariya on a brilliant spell! #rrvscsk #IPL2021

Looks a good track ,180 Bare minimum in Wankhede Mumbai , #CSK has to bowl and field very well to defend this #CSKvsRR #CricitwithBadri

This late flourish means @ChennaiIPL probably have enough. There is a bit of dew but @rajasthanroyals batting depth will be tested. Marginally towards #CSK I suspect.

Moeen has been pure class with the bat so far this season! ??????#CSKvsRR
