The 37th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2021) saw Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) J Suchith taking an amazing one-handed blinder of a catch at short mid-off to get rid of Punjab Kings (PBKS) batter Deepak Hooda, who could have proven to be a dangerous one.

The match is a highly anticipated one given that both teams are placed at the bottom of the points table with Punjab coming off a heart-breaking 2-run loss to Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers also losing their first match in UAE. This was an important match for both of them as they aimed to make a go for a farfetched playoffs spot.

Punjab Kings were asked to bat first by Sunrisers Hyderabad as SRH skipper Kane Williamson won the toss in Sharjah. While the Hyderabad-based franchise went in unchanged, Punjab Kings made three changes to their playing XI as Chris Gayle came in for Fabian Allen, Nathan Ellis came in for Adil Rashid and Ishan Porel made way for Ravi Bishnoi.

KL Rahul made 21 good-looking runs as he took initiative against the SRH bowling unit. But was soon out in the 5th over as Jason Holder got him caught by J Suchith. Mayank Agarwal followed soon in the same over for 5 runs. Then in walked Chris Gayle who was playing his first game in this UAE leg of the tournament.

Kane Williamson brought in Rashid Khan to counter Gayle and the big left-hander look uncomfortable during his 17-ball stay for his 14 runs. He was finally dismissed LBW to Rashid Khan, despite Gayle taking the DRS review. Aiden Markram looked good for a big score but was caught off a full toss bowled by Abdul Samad for 27 runs.

Deepak Hooda, who is known for his big-hitting made 13 runs in 10 balls with 1 four and was looking to step on the accelerator, but Jason Holder once again dismissed him, but this wicket had to be credited to the brilliant one-handed catch by Suchith again. The ball was hit over his head, but the substitute fielder jumped high in the air and plucked it out of thin air.
