Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul showed his range during his brilliant knock against the Chennai Super Kings on Thursday evening in Dubai to take his side to a consolation win as they bow out of the tournament.

The right-hander remained unbeaten on 98 from 42 balls, his innings was laced with 7 fours and 8 sixes. While he showed his class with plenty of sumptuous shots, KL Rahul turned up his T20 mode as well with a wonderful sweep shot off pacer Deepak Chahar with the ball landing on the top-tier stand.

On the fourth ball of the 9th over, KL Rahul quickly moved well across outside his off-stump. Chahar went full, trying to attack the stumps, but only saw KL Rahul go down on one knee, and, with the help of some marvelous wrist-work, pick it up and deposit the ball over the fine leg fence. Incredible.

KL Rahul show stuns CSK

Chasing 135, PBKS got off to a blazing start from their skipper. KL Rahul stroked Deepak Chahar for two fours in the first over, and a six in the third. He hammered Josh Hazlewood for a couple of boundaries and another maximum.

Mayank Agarwal joined in the act with a couple of fours before Shardul Thakur trapped him lbw. Thakur would also dismiss Sarfaraz Khan for a duck to keep CSK back in the game. Rahul would loft another four off Hazlewood to cap off the powerplay at 51/2.

The PBKS skipper continued his assault, smashing Thakur for another pair of six and four, bringing up his fifty off 25 balls. Shahrukh Khan, promoted up in the order, harrumphed Ravindra Jadeja for a maximum.

KL Rahul didn’t relent as he superbly thrashed Dwayne Bravo for a couple of biggies, before pulling Thakur, who had dismissed Markram, for another pair of four and six to finish the chase in 13 overs.
