IPL 2021: Watch - Sanju Samson's Quick Stumping To Dismiss Moeen Ali As Rahul Tewatia Takes His Third Wicket vs CSK

Rajasthan Royals (RR) leg-spinner Rahul Tewatia bagged a three-wicket haul versus Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Saturday at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Sanju Samson played part in two of those dismissals, effecting quick stumping of Moeen Ali behind the stumps.

For his third wicket of the night, Rahul Tewatia had Moeen Ali, who came in at number 4 today instead of his usual number 3 position as Suresh Raina was promoted up to gain some form with the playoffs in the offing.

On the first couple of balls of the 15th over, Rahul Tewatia was smoked for a couple of sixes by in-form Ruturaj Gaikwad. However, he came back strongly with the wicket of Ali on the fourth.

Seeing Ali making a charge down early, the leg-spinner fired the ball wide outside off. While the ball ended up wide, it also meant that Ali was unable to reach it and was stranded well away from his batting crease. Sanju Samson did the remaining job, whipping the bails quickly.

After being inserted into bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad started his innings with a beautiful straight drive off Akash Singh. CSK were 25/0 after four over, before Faf du Plessis struck two fours off Chetan Sakariya in the fifth, and Gaikwad thumped CSK’s first six to Mustafizur Rahman to cap off the powerplay at 44/0.

Faf du Plessis then got out to Rahul Tewatia in the seventh over, stumped by Samson while trying to accelerate. Tewatia struck again with Suresh Raina’s wicket. The run rate for CSK dipped as they reached 63/2 at the 10-over mark.

Gaikwad and Moeen Ali then took the attack to leg-spinners Tewatia and Mayank Markande lofting them for fours and sixes. The right-hander raised his fifty in the 14th over, but the left-hander got stumped, in the 15th, giving Tewatia his third wicket of the night.

The CSK opener continued to hammer runs off some indisciplined bowling by RR bowlers. At the time of writing, CSK are 133/3 at the end of the 16th over. Gaikwad is on 80* off 52 balls having hammered 8 fours and 3 sixes.
