Suresh Raina broke his bat while lobbing up a simple catch for the point fielder to end his dreary 6-ball stay at the crease. The IPL 2021 action has returned, in the UAE this time, and it is the Mumbai Indians who are off to a flier against the Chennai Super Kings in Dubai.
By the end of the powerplay, CSK’s score read 24/4 . Suresh Raina, who was pushed down to number 5 was the third wicket to fall.
The left-hander was having a nightmarish stay in thew middle as Trent Boult made life difficult for him first with a couple of short balls and then with length deliveries, as Suresh Raina couldn’t play any controlled shots.
On his fourth ball, the southpaw played a mishit – a thick outside edge which flew for a boundary beating the third man fielder. He wasn’t to be lucky a ball later when a similar edge went high and straight into the hands of Rahul Chahar at point. In the process, Suresh Raina also broke his bat as the ball hit the bottom part of his stick .

One by one, Mumbai Indians have hammered blows to the CSK. Boult got rid of Faf du Plessis in the very first over of the match before his compatriot Adam Milne dismissed Moeen Ali and forced Ambati Rayudu to retire hurt with a blow on his elbow.
Following Suresh Raina to the dugout was skipper MS Dhoni, who pulled Milne straight to deep square leg on the last ball of the powerplay. Dhoni had earlier won the toss and elected to bat first, a decision which has now clearly backfired.
