Only 2 days remain before the start of the 14th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021), former India keeper-batsman Parthiv Patel said that he would like the Mumbai Indians (MI) to achieve the hat-trick of winning the IPL titles.
MI is already five-time IPL champions with titles in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and the latest one coming in 2020. They are only the second team after Chennai Super Kings to win back-to-back titles and have a great chance of claiming a hat-trick of titles when they begin their IPL 2021 journey on April 9 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Chennai.
Mumbai Indians Has A Very Good Chance Of Making A Hat-Trick Of Winning The Tournament: Parthiv Patel
Parthiv said he wants to see Mumbai Indians become the first team to win a hat-trick of IPL titles this year. Rohit Sharma’s MI are one of the most dominant sides in not only the IPL but in all T20 leagues, given their record.
“IPL is all about entertainment. It is all about how everyone goes out there and express themselves. I have no doubts in seeing the way Virat Kohli has batted, the way Chris Gayle has been batting, the way KKR has played and all of that, but the biggest record which I would like to see is there’s not been a hat-trick of winning the tournament, which Mumbai Indians has a very good chance of. So, that is the record which I would like to see broken,” Parthiv Patel said on Star Sports.
Apart from captain Rohit Sharma MI has the likes of Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Trent Boult, Jasprit Bumrah, who have formed a core of the side which has five titles to their name. They did have to say goodbye to Lasith Malinga, who retired from franchise cricket due to personal reasons.

The IPL 2021 will start from April 9 and will be played in six cities in India- Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Ahmedabad and all matches will be played behind closed doors. Ahmedabad’s Sardar Patel Stadium will also host the playoff and the final of the tournament to be played on May 30th.
