If reports from the Telegraph are to be believed then, the Indian Premier League (IPL) fans might not see Rajasthan Royals’ Jofra Archer participating in the upcoming IPL 2021 edition. Jofra Archer has an INR 7.20 crore contract with the Rajasthan Royals franchise and has been with them since IPL 2018.

He has been one of the cornerstones of Rajasthan Royals outfits along with fellow England players Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler. Archer has been a valuable addition to the RR outfit, not only with the ball but has done some amazing things with the bat as well. He has 46 wickets in 35 IPL matches and has made 195 runs at a strike rate of 157.25.

However, he has been struggling with injuries of the late, especially to his right elbow, which made him miss two Test matches against India on the recent series, and put a question mark over his Test career, given his fitness and commitments to playing in T20 leagues, like the IPL.

As per the report, Archer will have another injection in his elbow after the ongoing T20I series against India. The right-arm pacer is reportedly playing with pain as he wasn’t even in contention to play the T20Is before the series began. The latest upset sort of confirms that he will not be playing the upcoming three-match ODI series as well.

Archer has 30 wickets in 17 ODIs and 14 in 11 T20Is. In 13 Tests, the 25-year-old has dismissed 42 batsmen. He was fast-tracked into the England team after qualifying to play for the country and was part of England’s victorious 2019 World Cup campaign.

If the reports are true and Archer indeed misses the IPL 2021, it will be a huge blow for Rajasthan Royals, as he is perhaps their fastest bowler in the squad, with others bowling revolving around him. Andrew Tye, Jaydev Unadkat, Kartik Tyagi, Mustafizur Rahman, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldip Yadav, and Akash Singh are other pacers in RR’s squad.
