MI vs KKR: Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) Predicted Playing XI Against Mumbai Indians (MI)- IPL 2021 Match 34. Kolkata Knight Riders have begun their UAE campaign on a positive note after registering a nine-wicket win over Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. Thanks to a brilliant bowling effort from the team, RCB were bundled out for just 92 runs.

Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell starred with the ball, picking three wickets each. Shubman Gill and debutant Venkatesh Iyer stitched an 81-run opening partnership in the second innings to seal the game for the Knight Riders.

With that victory, KKR have now reached the sixth spot on the points table. They played the last game with a fearless brand of cricket and the fans would hope that they continue in the same vein. KKR are set to play their next game against defending champions Mumbai Indians and we look at their predicted playing XI.

Openers: Shubman Gill and Venkatesh Iyer

Shubman Gill has started the UAE leg in a sensational fashion as he played a blistering 48-run knock of just 34 balls against RCB. His knock included 6 fours and 1 six. He will be one of the players to watch out for in the next game.

KKR’s new star in the making, Venkatesh Iyer announced himself in IPL with a sensational 27-ball 41-run knock in the last game against RCB on Monday. The southpaw hit some gorgeous drives and sumptuous cuts during his heart-warming knock. The franchise would be wanting him to continue in the same fashion.

Middle-order: Nitish Rana, Rahul Tripathi, Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik

Barring Gill and Iyer, none of the batsmen got to bat in the last game. Nitish Rana opened the batting in the first leg but has now been demoted to number three. He has been one of the better batsmen for KKR in the tournament. It remains to be seen how he bats at the number three position. Rahul Tripathi is expected to bat at four, while Eoin Morgan will be coming at number five.

Morgan had a horrendous outing in the first leg of the tournament. He has failed to live up to the expectations. The English skipper is one of the most dangerous batsmen in the shortest format and certainly has the ability to make a turnaround. Dinesh Karthik hasn’t got a lot of opportunities this season. He is likely to bat at six.

All-rounders: Andre Russell and Sunil Narine

Andre Russell and Sunil Narine should retain their spots in the playing XI. Both bowled brilliantly in the last game against RCB. Russell picked 3 for 9 in 3 overs, while Narine finished with figures of 0 for 20 in 4 overs. The West Indies all-rounders will add depth to this Kolkata’s batting line-up.

Bowlers: Varun Chakravarthy, Lockie Ferguson and Prasidh Krishna

Varun Chakravarthy spun a web around RCB in the last game. He picked three crucial wickets of Maxwell, Hasaranga and Sachi Baby, giving away 13 runs in his quota of four overs.

Ferguson and Krishna bowled brilliantly in the powerplay against RCB. The duo will once again be opening the bowling for KKR against MI on Thursday.
