NCA head coach Rahul Dravid is likely to be the interim coach for India until the BCCI finds a suitable candidate after the T20 Worldcup 2021 comes to an end. The current head coach Ravi Shastri tenure comes to an end after the big tournament of the T20 Worldcup ends, and the Rahul Dravid has already admitted that he doesn’t want to take up the role of full-time head coach.

With the home series coming up against New Zealand after the T20 Worldcup, there could be an immediate situation in which India will need an interim coach until a full-time coach is appointed. Rahul Dravid, who did the job for India temporarily in the Sri Lanka series, has been the most approached person until now.

It’s Better To Find A Suitable Candidate First – A BCCI Official

A BCCI official had mentioned that the search has been for a candidate who is best suited and should be willing to take up the job on a longer basis. He also reckoned that it would be uncomfortable in a situation for the board to not find any candidates from the lot. He added that Dravid would be the interim coach until the candidate is found.

We wanted the candidate whom we feel is best suited for the job to agree first (to apply for the job),. “We don’t want a situation where we get applications but no one is seen as ideal. It will be embarrassing for the board and for the candidates too. So it’s better to find a suitable candidate first, till then Dravid can be interim coach,” a BCCI official explained their rationale to delay the advertisement.
