As much as Chennai Super Kings seamer Deepak Chahar performed well in the clash against the Punjab Kings on Friday, Ravindra Jadeja’s brilliance on the field also deserves special mention. Deepak Chahar broke the back of the Punjab Kings’ batting line-up by taking four wickets in as many overs by conceding only 13 runs and delivering a maiden. Given Jadeja’s outstanding fielding, Chahar revealed that he would love to have 11 such players on the field.

Ravindra Jadeja showcased multiple instances of fielding magnificence to peg the Punjab Kings back. The Saurashtra cricketer affected Punjab captain KL Rahul’s run-out with a direct hit from short cover, followed by taking a diving catch off Chris Gayle’s bat from the same position. Punjab Kings could not recover from those blows and managed only 107 in 20 overs. Chahar eventually finished with figures of 4-1-13-4, earning the man of the match award.

Deepak Chahar recalled the catch in the first over of Chris Gayle’s dropped by Ruturaj Gaikwad and underlined that only Ravindra Jadeja could have taken that. The 27-year old stated that Jadeja has taken plenty of catches off his bowling and that he wants 11 such players on the field.

“First over, when the catch went to Ruturaj, it was a quick one, only Jaddu could’ve taken that so I was like he should’ve been there. He’s one of the best in the world, has taken so many catches off my bowling. I want 11 Jaddus on the field,” Chahar said in the post-match presentation.

Deepak Chahar highlighted that he always starts the tone for any match and wants to take the momentum early by grabbing wickets. He admired MS Dhoni for handing him that responsibility and hopes to produce the goods in the upcoming fixtures too.

I am always the one who starts the tone for the match. If I take a wicket or bowl a maiden over then obviously we can take the momentum. It’s a big responsibility I’ve been having for the last four years and Mahi bhai has shown faith in me. Hopefully, I can deliver in some more matches,” he added.
