Chennai Super Kings batted first in that encounter and scored a par total of 188 runs. However, it didn’t prove enough as Delhi Capitals chased down the score with seven wickets remaining.

Shikhar Dhawan played a sensational knock of 85 runs in that game, while Prithvi Shaw played equally well for his 72 off 38 balls. Here’s a look at how both the teams have performed this season.

Delhi Capitals have been sensational both in the first and second leg of IPL 2021. 10 wins in 13 matches have helped them reach the top of the points table. While they have reached the playoffs, where they finish at the end of the league stage remains to be seen. The Capitals have a strong net run rate and even if they lose their last game against RCB on Friday, they would still make the top-two finish.

In the batting unit, Prithvi Shaw’s poor form remains the only concern. Shikhar Dhawan added 39 runs off 35 balls in the last game. His knock would give him some confidence. Shreyas Iyer has already played a few impactful knocks since his return to the side. Rishabh Pant has been ultra-aggressive at times and this has cost him his wicket on a few occasions now. With Marcus Stoinis still not in the side, he needs to play more responsibly.

Shimron Hetmyer’s unbeaten 18-run knockoff 10 balls will give him immense confidence as he took his side home in a crunch situation against CSK. The bowling unit too looks formidable. Delhi Capitals have two fearsome fast bowlers in Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje and the emergence of Avesh Khan has only strengthened this attack. Axar Patel is loving the slow tracks of UAE and Ashwin is also providing great support.

All in all, Delhi Capitals looks like a team to beat and is a favourite for the game on Friday. They are coming into the game on the back of a 3-wicket win and would look to continue the winning momentum.

Royal Challengers Bangalore currently find themselves at number three with 8 wins in 13 matches. Virat Kohli was utterly disappointed after losing the last game against SRH as it cost them a top-two finish. A win on Friday might not take them to number two, meaning that RCB is likely to finish at number three at the end of the league stage.

Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli aren’t in the best of form. Padikkal played an uncharacteristic knock against Hyderabad, while Virat Kohli also departed early. The decision to send Daniel Christian at number three hasn’t worked out well either.

Glenn Maxwell is their only consistent performer in the batting order. He has been exceptional. Having said that, the other batsmen need to step up to the plate as well or things might go awry in the knockouts. AB de Villiers hasn’t been given a lot of balls to face and this is something that RCB need to look at.

With 13 runs needed in the final over in the last game, AB de Villiers couldn’t take his team home. De Villiers hasn’t been getting a lot of time in the middle. RCB need to send him early and only then one could expect him to deliver. Harshal Patel has been doing a great job with the ball. He is picking wickets for fun and making sure RCB perform well with the ball. Yuzvendra Chahal and Shahbaz Nadeem’s impressive spells have also kept them in good stead.

RCB has a lot of room for improvement as far as their batting is concerned. Also, someone has to help them pick wickets in the powerplay. Harshal Patel could endure a forgettable day in the coming games and RCB need to be warry of that.
