Revealed: Why Bhuvneshwar Kumar Isn't Included In Playing XI vs DC

At the toss for the match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), when captain David Warner revealed his playing XI to the presentator, a major name, that of bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar was missing from it.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been one of the core players for the Hyderabad-based franchise and has even captained the team a couple of IPLs before. He is one of the highest-rated T20 bowlers in the world and his record speaks for itself. Kumar, who hails from Meerut, has 45 wickets in 48 T20I matches for India.
Overall in the T20s, Bhuvneshwar has 196 wickets in 189 T20 matches at an economy of 7.17 with the best bowling of 5/19, He was the first bowler to take five-wicket hauls in all three international formats for India. However, recently, he has struggled with a bout of injuries that have hampered his progress in both international cricket and in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Missed Out Due To A Injury
The 31-year-old fast bowler had played just 4 matches in the IPL 2020 before pulling out of the remainder of the tournament due to a hip injury, missing the tour of Australia. and before that in 2019-20, he was sidelined due to a sports hernia. He made his return to the Indian side performing extremely well in the five-match T20I series picking 4 wickets and then took 6 wickets in the 3-match ODI series.
However, it seems that he has experienced another unfortunate bout of injury as he missed out on the SRH’s match against DC in Chennai on April 25, 2021. David Warner, the SRH captain revealed why Bhuvneshwar Kumar was missing from the playing XI, despite playing the first four matches and picking 3 wickets.
“The way Kane and Jonny finished off the game last game was that we should have done previously. Obviously, the experienced heads in the middle, we were able to do that. We bowled well, that was the most important thing and the most pleasing thing. Unfortunately, Bhuvi’s pulled up, bit sore. We have got Suchith coming in for him,” Warner was quoted saying during the toss.
SRH won their first match in 4 tries against Punjab Kings in their last game and will face Delhi Capitals, who defeated MI in their first match in Chepauk.
