Delhi Capitals are out of IPL 2021 after having lost the game against KKR in Qualifier 2, and the head coach Ricky Ponting mentioned that it has been the only game they have been outplayed. Indeed, Delhi finished at the top of the points table after the league stages of IPL 2021, and they were one of the favourites for the title this year.

They were so consistent throughout the season in UAE and India and never looked like losing out on a place in the finals. However, they haven’t come up on the winning side in their last three games, and the loss to KKR was not just a defeat, but they were completely outplayed in all the departments.

We Didn’t Bat Well Enough Today – Ricky Ponting Highlights The Mistakes

Ricky Ponting was quite sure that the game against KKR in Qualifier 2 was the only game through the season that they had been outplayed. He added that the batting performance wasn’t ideal in the game, and losing wickets regularly did not help their cause either.

“To be totally honest, looking back at this whole season, I think today really is the only game that I feel that we’ve been outplayed in,. We didn’t bat well enough today, we didn’t get enough runs in the powerplay, we lost wickets too regularly through the middle of our batting innings,” Ricky Ponting told after the loss to KKR.

It’s Disappointing For Us Certainly To Finish This Way, Reckons Ricky Ponting

Ricky Ponting mentioned that Hetmyer and Shreyas’s partnership was key in getting Delhi back on track but felt that the total was very little to contend with. He added that he was very disappointed to have finished the tournament with a loss like that.

“If it wasn’t for Hetmyer and Shreyas at the end, we weren’t looking anywhere near 130 odd, so we’ve been outplayed and we’ll talk about that when we make it back into the rooms after. It’s disappointing for us certainly to finish the way that we have,” He added.
